My question is we only signed one new o lineman so far and hes not that good.Do we spend our first pick on a new lineman or trust that houck can still work some magic?

I dunno. We've spent a number of picks on offensive linemen the last couple of years. Hopefully, one or two of them will be ready to step up this season. I think we would be better served using the first rounder on a DB or maybe a LB.

we gonna get a new center..dont trust Seth really and Hadnot is still abit young

what do u mean hes not that good, hes a HUGE upgrade for mcintosh, and our O line was pretty damn good last year compared to the year before

I think that LT and penalties was the worse things about our oline and hopefully penalties won't be a problem again. We already have all the positions that we need and the only way we go Oline is if Winston Justice is there when we pick or we trade down and pick either Nick Mangold or a G ( Max Jean-Giles would be nice )

Bro I think this will be cleared when the Lavar deal is done. Houck can do great things with Olinemen that are not first round picks. If we get Lavar then I would say CB, WR maybe, and if not then it will be Olinemen. If we don't get Lavar, then I would say the priority is OLB, CB, WR and Safety.:ffic:

We lost two, McIntosh and McDougle and only replaced one, Shelton.

LJ is the real thing. He entered the league either lazy or trying to do it on talent alone. His technique was questionable in his early years in Arizona. Living in Ohio I was condemened to watching Browns games last year and LJ had a good to very good year. They wanted him back but when he balked they went out and overpaid for Shaffer and then in classic sour grapes fashion annouced they had "upgraded" Bull!

McKinney ended the year playing far better than he started, of course considering the way he started how could he have not improved? I think Houck is having an effect on him.

The line now has:

LT- Shelton & Alabi
LG- James & Brooks
C- McKinney & Smith
RG- Hadnot & Berger
RT- Carey & Pape (&Thompson sort of)

Even a cursery look at that list says we are thin and/or young. We have got to add some talent here either from further forays into free agency or more likely now in the draft perhaps supplemented by a 6/1 cut or two.

Our Oline can't win games by itself but we are an injury away from it losing a bunch!

im torn between Winston Justice and Chad Greenway (if they were both there at 16) but i def think we need to draft at least 1 o-linemen

I hate to agree but the O line did look good the last few games of the season. Lets just hope they can grow off that

Greenway killed his stock at the Combine and there is no way we take him at 16. Justice might not be there when we pick

I am not sure CB is a huge need now and with the market very thin (After Woodson-injury prone and Law-wants way too much money). I agree with the rest tho and I add DT ( Sam Adams ) if we do not get Lavar. :ffic:

I remember on espn about a week after the pro bowl chris mortensen was predicting who we woud pick and he said some o-line man from usc

i forget his name

Winston Justice OT USC

LJ Shelton is GOOD. He is a true LT and is far better than DMac. I dont know why this addition gets so little respect around here, but please dont speak if you really dont know. Just ask if Shelton is an upgrade instead of being initially negative. The Browns DID TRY to resign him for nearly the entire month before FA, but they could not come to terms. Then, as someone stated, they overpaid big time for a tackle that really played at the same level as LJ last year. Considering the price tag on OTs, he was a very very very good signing and he will anchor the line. Furthermore, the offensive line really is not a worry. First, Houck proved to me he is the man. Last season, a lot of us were pretty sure he could make this line decent, but I dont know who really believed it- but after watching the change in just 1 season, I can say that he is absolutely 100% the best offensive line coach in the NFL. With that said, I never saw OL as a position we needed to drastically change (apart from replacing DMac) and I certainly hope we do not use our 1st round pick on an OT.

thats the ticket if you ask me. trade down, get mangold (gaurranteed PB IMO) and then get back a second rounder and get Blue or another Safety. thats it for me. QB in the third round or fourth and get another friggin OL! WE NEED OLINE IF WE WANNA BE GREAT! We dont really need Arrington that bad!
