When is the media gonna stop calling the As a hot team, and start giving them there due respect.they are a GOOD team, not a HOT team.a Hot team doesn't do what oakland has done for the past two months, only a good team is capable of doing that.

Amazing season they're having, but they share something with all the other A's teams: they will not win a playoff series this year.

The only team I can see giving Oakland trouble is Boston.Oakland has good pitching ,hitting and they're playing good defense.just for what ever reason, they seem to have trouble with Boston.

I just finished having this VERY same debate in another thread...

I see we have 2 Miss Cleo's on the board...

It's my honest opinion. Do you have a problem with that? I see a team with huge talent and incredible potential. I also see a team that has a lineup that won't cut it in the playoffs because they've never had any experience. Even the 2003 Marlins had guys like Lenny Harris and Jeff Conine around. The only Oakland playoff vets all have experience losing in the playoffs. It's just the way it is. But there's no denying that this team should be good for a long time.

EDIT: I just read your argument with MikeO...why doesn't that surprise me? Anyways, we have different opinions on the matter. His argument is that Oakland never won anything before so they can't win anything now. That's ridiculous, because those were completely different teams (Hudson, Mulder, Tejada, Giambi, Isringhausen, Koch, Durazo, etc.). Plus, if Boston can win after 86 years of bad history, we know history is fun to remember but bears very little on unrelated teams. My argument is that they're just not experienced or ready enough to win anything major. This is a great experience for Harden, Blanton, Swisher, Johnson, Street, & Co., and with Chavez and Zito locked up, there's not that urgency you usually see with small-market teams. This will be a cream of the crop team for years to come. It's just not going to happen this year.

At least you did'nt bash them....

I see a team that is doing a lot more then even Billy Beane thought they would do this year.

This season was supposed to be the year the young pitching (Blanton, Haren, Cruz, Meyer and Street) got some experience...and then next year they made a playoff run.

The reason I think this team is different then the other A's teams that have made the playoffs the last 5-6 years is the pitching. Yes, they always has Mulder, Zito and Hudson but, Mulder and Hudson would always break down late in the season.

This year the young arms (Blanton and Haren especcially) have been on strict pitch counts.

They also have an experienced Rich Harden now....as good as Mulder and Hudson were Rich Harden is better then either one of them. He is dominant.
Barry Zito has been dependable in the playoffs in the past and he is back to Cy Young form.

The bullpen is also MUCH better then any A's bullpan has been in thelast decade.

I worry about the offense though. This team can't manufacture runs...something they NEED to do in the playoffs. Sitting around waiting for the 2 run double or a 3 run homer in the playoffs will be a downfall.

This team is a lot different then the A's teams in the past...that is why I think talking about the teams past playoff failures is pointless. The rookies (Swisher, Johnson, Haren, Street, Blanton) and the young players (Crosby, Harden) were either not on those playoff teams or had very small roles on them...this is a totally different team.

No Miss Cleo's..........just win a stinking playoff series. We have seen this before. Get hot, get into the playoffs, get a 2-0 lead in a Best of 5 series, and then BLOW IT!

They haven't done it once, they do it all the time!

Not my opinion at all. My opinion is they arent' taken seriously come playoff time because they always lose in round 1. ONCE THEY GET OUT OF ROUND 1, then people will take them seriously.

I didn't bash them either. All day I never mentioned one player by name or said he sucked or this guy blows or anything.

Well, I apologize if I misconstrued what you said, but that's what I took it to mean. And I have a different point.

I would never bash another team. I'm a Marlins fan. We've had three winning seasons. Two won us the World Series, of course, but the point is, I don't root for a team that has earned the right to be ****y.

As a Red Sox fan Oakland scares me. They have great arms in Harden, Zito, Blanton, Street (Rookie of the Year in my opinion). The only thing that they lack is bats in my opinion. Chavez is good, probably their best hitter, but never has good playoff series. Pitching wins in the playoffs and I personally think they have the best overall pitching staff in the AL.

P.S. I admit that Billy Beane is a good GM. It's too bad he doesn't have money to work with.

I am an Orioles fan (i know, i know), but I consider myself an honorary Athletics fan b/c I went to high school with Nick Swisher and his younger brother Mark. Nick, imo, has made a real strong case for rookie of the year

The A's will finish 1-2-3 with ROOKIE OF THE YEAR award.

Swisher, Street, Johnson

Cano might split it up and sneak in there someway, but Oakland has the market cornered on that award this year.
