3/9: "Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Jared Veldheer is expected to sign with the Arizona Cardinals for between $7 million and $7.5 million." - Aaron Wilson, Baltimore Sun

Maybe Albert is coming to Miami.

Original tweet from Darnell Docket said Albert was the newest member of the Bird Gang.

Maybe he was mistaken.

At $7-7.5 wonder if that lowers the price tag for the rest of the LT market?

Dockett was goofing, he also put this tweet out before the one about Albert.

Of course, Dockett also uses Twitter to invite women to eat chicken wings at strip clubs and post pictures of alligators, so it’s probably not the kind of thing to warrant a league investigation.

Probably not the most reliable of sources.

That said, it wouldnt surprise me if Albert had a offer on the table from Arizona and was more than willing to accept before we blew him away and he reneged. If the numbers Peter King brought up are even close to what he heard($11 million), then that would explain much about whats been going on the past few days. Arizona has a deal in place with Albert, Miami walks up and throws down the gauntlet, Arizona immediately says "im out" and moves on to a guy they were almost as high on.

Jared Veldheer did not play well last year, although he was coming off of injury. He still looked bad. Factor in penalties and I am not sure I could go into the season feeling confident the LT position has been solved if we signed him.

$7.5 million per year is a big risk, and being that he is young, there will likely be lots of guaranteed money. I'd rather pay Albert or Monroe a few extra million to be sure about the LT position.

Mia fans who spend there time being critical of everything Mia does are not going to appreciate this post.

But I do

wow, do we really need to spend 11 million on a LT? I'm not sure I'm on board with that......

Damn....

Albert at $11? Hickey and Dawn better have the most amazing contract written up in which the Fins can walk clean after year 3.

I think 7.5-8.5 million is enough to pay for a good LT, Albert is not elite, I would rather look for a tackle in the draft than to over pay for a LT, we still have 4 other spots to fill on the OL line alone, add to that RB, LB, S, DL and CB and a draft class and we will be in cap hell over the next few years.....to me 11.5 million is elite status....

YES we dio need to spend that tyrp of money for a left tackle to at least have SOME assurance that the position is addressed. That or we could role the dice on a guy for 5 mil and hope for the best!!!!!

I mean you see what happens when you DON'T spend the money for an O-linemen.

Here's this but it's just as much speculation as King's article. It's also where the OP's info came from.

I don't want to go from one extreme to the other, last yr we didn't address the position knowing we had a mentally weak LT with no depth, this yr we want to break the bank on a good LT....there has to be a middle ground somewhere.....

We had a LT from the draft last year and how'd that pan out?

Albert is a fantastic pass blocker, and that's what we need at LT. It's great to get balance and have a good run blocker there too, but this is Tannehills team and he requires a stud pass blocker and that's what big Albert is. I imagine we'd look at a vet at RG to even the line out with vets and rookies. Geoff Schwartz would be a great RG, great size, push and plus feet for a man that big.

9.5 million is steep now but in 2 years from now it won't be steep, it'll be average.
