O'Brien A Big Factor For Franchise

Every org. needs a couple of Gophers..O'Brien seems to fit the bill.

Is it just me or does the job as 'Saban's assistant' seem like a very painful task?

O'Brien sounds like a heck of a lot more than a gopher. The point of the article was that O'Brien is the 2nd most powerful guy in football operations. He is helping with personnel evaluation, coaching as well as administrative duties. I thought it was interesting that Marvez quoted unnamed sources within the team who were very critical of O'briens management style and that John Fox accused him of being involved in more things than he should be. Saban's not going to like people talking to the press without permission.

I think O'Brien is the Special Teams coach of the fins in 2006

around the League many ST coach are asisted. head coach(dallas comes to mind)
Remember Keith Armstong is a leftover of the DaveW regimen
and one of the first coach Nick hired

As you read the article /the guy was Special team coach of the year in 94
rumor has it Scott O'brien is during more coach then administration work
(ok scott may arranges a few charts and seats )but my point is
Nick had to promised Scott a different position in order to sign (his friend)away for
Tenn.

Nick you one smart guys.

i focused more on Saban's comments... if it frees him up to gameplan, and watch film on his team and that weeks opponents, all the better. ive heard many head coaches complain that they dont coach anymore because of all the peripheral headaches like travel planning and such. and while pro football players are adults and supposedly professional, who rooms with who and who sits next to who on the bus can cause team chemistry problems if some thought isnt put into those arrangements.

These were my thoughts when O'Brien was hired by Saban:

Right Here

That is exactly the role he is filling.
