Hi there.

I haven't seen the Dolphins-Bears game yet. Nor did I watch the Cardinals-Bears Monday Night Game. I have one question to those who watched both games: Since the Bears offense struggled in both of these games, did we do the same on defense that the Cardinals did two weeks ago? I mean, is it possible that the Cardinals game exploited the weaknesses of this offense and Coach Saban and his staff had a similar gameplan?

This brings me to our 6-0 run to end the previous season and it leads me to believe that game preparation is on another level once the staff has more tape to work with. I mean, is it possible our early struggles are because the staff cannot evaluate the opponent properly? And as the season progresses, they have more tape to identify the holes of other teams and therefore we were looking much better down the road last year? Or is it just coincidence? You know what I mean?

Absolutely. More game film is definitely an advantage. But it's also an advantage for your opponent, as they have more game film on you.

Makes sense. But I think the sad fact about Miami is that Kooch was right, we were playing soul less. These guys were lacking heart. I hope they know now how punishing they can be when they come to play ball.

I believe Denny Green has the answers. He would tell you, "WE KNEW WHO THE BEARS WERE!" "IF YOU WANNA CROWN 'EM, CROWN 'EM! Haha! That was classic.

Exactly. What I've been trying to say is: our Coach is much better in evaluating game film than the coaches we've been playing against in the 2nd half of the season.

Gotcha.

Yeah, I could see that.

that doesnt make sence considering, its the begining of the season for both teams....theres no tape for either teams, so i dont see that as being an advantage for us....we were just over-hyped and didnt play well imo

At the beginning of the season you have to prepare "in the dark". Which means, you have some guessing to do and therefore luck is a factor. As it turned out we weren't very lucky with our gameplan early on but since most teams have shown their tendencies by midseason the guessing game is over and last season our coach seemed to excel in preparing for games in the 2nd half of the season. And thus, here's hope we'll be in for another great season finish. I'm not talking playoffs, I just hope we will win a couple of more games this season even if it means we will be picking in the middle of the pack again come April.

Game film is obviously a vauluable tool but any coach worth his salt in the game today will tell you that the team which makes the opposing side play 'their' game invariably comes out on top. Basically you force your game plan down the opposing teams throats.

Predictability in the opposition is all but extinct. Coaches today are too good and well prepared as well as teams 'too equal' to play 'the game' of responding to the other team. Study the opposition and be ready for their tendancies but worry more about what you do then what they do.

Miami's mid to late season turn-around (if we have another one - which I think we will) has much more to do with the way we are playing or not playing. This is a team that needs to gel, feel confident, have certain aspects of team tactics, mechanics and execution fall into the unconscious realm of performance. This allows for less thinking and more reacting.

i completely disagree. the most successful team over the past 5 years, New England, doesnt necessarily play a certain way. They are so successful because the staff routinely devises great gameplans. look at the game against minnesota. everyone thought they would come out and establish the run, and they did the opposite, attacked through the air.

same thing could be said for the steelers of last year. everyone thought they would try to run the ball down the colts' throats, but instead they attacked through the air down the middle against that cover 2 that dungy loves.

your approach is the same thing that Wanny did. "were going to play our game, and you have to stop us"...that doesnt work in 2006. you have to be an all around good team so you can execute a variety of gameplans according to your opponent.

sure gamefilm is great but that cant be the excuse here.
#1 prob is Our O Line is horrible and has been for years.
#2 Culpepper was an abomination and I feel was the biggest mistake the fins have made since hiring Wanny and Rick Spielman. He was horrible in Min once Randy left and will be here.
#3 Milarky can't call home let alone plays. He was horrible in Buffalo so why would we think they would be different here.
Now the good.
Ronnie Brown- If we gave him 25-30 carries a game we would win every game.
Our Defense- They've been solid. You can't expect them to stay on the field all day and not give up some bad plays. 3 and outs and turnovers will kill a d every time.

Our D won this game for us. Bottom line. Our drives were short and sweet and all set up by the D. Joey still struggled but Ronnie who has been good all yr when given a chance was awesome.

Run the ball and throw when you have to. Rely on the D to hold the score low. Next year we will have a top 5 pick and we need to take a QB that's it.

Saban did what he always has done before each game, get the team prepared to winb the game. Then its up to the players to execute the game plan, which they finally did on Sunday. I don't see this as so much a reflection on Saban as a new attitude and willingness on the players part to go out and execute the game plan.
