Active Roster
Well... here we are again... 1-3... should be 0-4... outlook? No. There isn't one.
I am you. I am Dolphin. I am your pain. I want what you want. I need what you need. I starve for what seems to be forever out of our reach.
Where do we go from here? I truly wish I knew. The answer would bring so much peace to so many people who share the same orange blood that I do.
I don't want a championship. I mean I do. But... I am so far beyond that need it is insane. I just want competent, cheerable football. I want a team I can be proud of. I want Arizona. I want Minnesota. I want Cincinnati for Christ sake.
We are Cleveland. Let me say that again. We ARE Cleveland. In fact, we were worse than Cleveland in every aspect but final score. What the hell happened!
I am sad. I am drunk. I don't generally like getting drunk to be honest. Football season is the only time I drink for the most part. For one I love me a good football tailgate and my Alma Mater UCF delivers with golden consistency on home Saturdays. Win or lose we still booze. That said we have all the attributes to be in a power conference and I hope the BIG 12 steps up in the coming weeks.
That brings us to Dolphin Sundays, where I start the day with a beer in hand for the game and as the score gets more bleak, the tabs gets more steep.
SO I say again where do we go from here? Well lets just take a quick glance position by potion as I see it.
CB: Xavian Howard is a starter in this league. Pure and simple hands down the kid has it. He is early on in the process but come year 3 this is a guy we can count on. Tony Lippett has a lot of potential. Made some big plays tonight in a loss but also made big mistakes. Nothing else salvageable here in my opinion.
S: Resign Jones. Maximize his ability over the next 4 years and hope we can find a team by the end of his window. Still searching for his partner at FS.
DE: Start drafting. 2 of the first 4 pick over the next 2 seasons should be on the RE and LE position. We are old. And the backups are weak to say the least.
DT. You paid Suh so use him. Give him a block eater opposite him in either FA or the draft. The line has to be a strength every year so long as Suh is here otherwise it was a wasted investment no matter how well he plays.
LB: Kiko can be the answer at the mike. However, we need 5 other lbers around him because everyone else is trash. If kiko goes down this year then that is 6 lbers we need. We have a 2-3 year project on our hands at this position.
WR: This is the only position where I grow from within on the entire squad. Parker, Landry, Stills. Caroo, and Grant should be the core for the next 5 years far as I am concerned. Add one big speedster( Justin Hunter experiment) and this group is set.
TE: I like Sims. As the number 2. I like Gray. As a Number 3. I, like everyone else, thought Cameron could be our number 1. We were wrong. He is not the answer and should not come back.
RB: This is our target in the first if you ask me. SO much talent at the position this year. Give me McCaffrey. Fournette, or Cook.
OL: Tunsil needs to move to LT full time the rest of the year. We need to know if this position can be locked down for the next 5-10 with him. Albert when he comes back can either kick inside or be traded to a playoff team for a 3rd or less. Thomas needs to be cut. Sign anybody in his place. OG needs to be the biggest priority in FA the next season. We need run blocking maulers who can get to the next level. James... I dont know what happened but it is gone. He does not have it thus far this season and I don't know if he ever will. Pouncey can be traded, I like Steen. And I am dead serious on that one. Move him this off-season and free up the cap space.
QB: I hate that it has come to this. In Tannehills first season we saw tipped pass after tipped pass and fumbles in the pocket because he held onto the ball to long when he knew his line was weak. 5 years in and it is the exact same story. I tried. I bought a jersey after year 2. I saw flashes and I thought maybe. I wanted it so badly. I was wrong. He does not have it. He is a nice kid, his intentions are good and in a perfect world he is the model franchise QB. But when game time actually arrives, the lights come on, and his go out. I am sick writing this. But the ride is over. The haters have won. If you can really call it winning.
Well that is my piece. We are a lost franchise with a total of 10 good or potentially good players on our roster at present. ( Reshad Jones, Ndamakong SUh, Kiko ALonso, Xavian Howard, Tony Lippett, Laremy Tunsil, Anthony Steen, Devante Parker, Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills) (Excluded due to age and injury: Wake, Albert, Bushrod, Foster, Williams)
Everyone else can kick rocks. Fins up. Bad night. Bad season. Damn it. Just damn it.
