I noticed on many occasions that we only have two cornerbacks in even during nickle and dime packages. Filling in to cover the other receivers are safeties and line backers. After disecting the first Boldin touchdown, you will see Bolding lined up in the slot being covered by Crowder. Crowder blitzes on the play and then Ayodele is left to try and cover Boldin from his middle line backer position. A quote from Crocker about this play was that half the defense was lined up in one defense and the other half in another. The missed assignment does not bother me as much as the personnel used at that time. Either way a linebacker was covering Boldin whether it was Crowder or Ayodele, while on the same side Crocker is covering Steve Breaston and Goodman was covering the TE Pope. First of all Crocker should not be on a receiver at the line trying to cover on the play, he is a safety not a corner. A line backer should never be covering Boldin at the line period. I believe Crowder missed something here and should of audibled. This was a nickle situation and where was Lehan. I know he has been hurt but we need to stop putting safties on receivers at the line of scrimmage. There were times that Bell, our best playmaking saftey was lined up on a wide receiver at the line of scrimmage. I don't remember seeing Lehan till the second half. So are nickle and dime packages consist of W. Allen and Goodman as our corners and the rest of the secondary consists of safeties.

This topic has been brought up multiple times but it was embarrasing watching this group yesterday. I know secondary was not the main focus this off season, but it has been said time after time that the bottom of this roster will be turned over by people who can play. Well we have a problem in the secondary if we can only field two corners with safeties filling in on multiple receiver sets. There were players out there that we could have got like Deltha O'neil to atleast give us some help in a shortened position. Lehan needs to be out there, if he is healthy enough to be activated for the game he needs to be in on nickle and dime packages covering a receiver from the line of scrimmage. Nate Jones is special teams only and we sign a guy like Culver who will not see any action but STs. I think it is important to find a corner, not to be our savior but someone who can come in and help us at that position.

Lehan and Jason Allen. But no, I guess they are being taught a lesson just like Ginn. The problem is, the lesson is hurting the team and not doing any favors for the fans either.:shakeno:

On the first Boldin play.... they lined up 5 Wrs.... We were in a cover 0 ( risky defense since there is no deep coverage)... you have to get the QB on the blitz....which Crowder was right in his face...

On the second Boldin TD... nobody motions with him.... Will Allen... points and starts shifting but nobody moves to cover him...looks like Bell was alittle late...

Third Boldin TD... Bel had the coverage..slips but has in hand right there..... and so is Lehan to try and hit the ball just as Boldin is pulling it in... just a great play by Warner and Boldin...

It was a Cover 0 scheme. Crowder by design is suppose to blitz the QB.... the lane is open and he does a good job of getting to his face. The CBs and safeties are covering the recievers Man to Man on the line.... some teams will do bump and run.... to prevent any Wrs from getting a clear route to the deep..... its a risky formation as there is no deep safety help.

The Cards did an excellent job of getting Boldin inside and matched against the ILB. Looks like TE Pope is lined outside with another Receiver which draws a CB/S to cover them Man. Pope runs the short route..... and thus draws the CB/S covering him ( Crocker or Hill) closer....while the play was designed for Boldin deep. LB cant cover him.

Normally on a cover 0 the LB is covering a RB coming from the backfield with 3/4 WRs set up..... problem was it was a 5WR and Boldin was lined up perfect.

So who is to blame then? Crowder? The Defense coach or whoever has commo with Crowder? The safeties?

The biggest problem we have had in both our games are COACHING. Tony Sparano absolutely has no clue whatsoever he is doing out there. Next week, I'm coaching.

The coach significant blame for not preparing the defense for the worst case, but the pilot in charge is always to blame. Crowder and Ayodele are at fault. Ayodele should have realized he was in trouble. At that point, you either call a time out or just tackle Bouldin straight off the line.

You all did hear that this was a mix-up in coverage, right??? We substituted and not everyone got the coverage, so we weren't all on the same page.
