With the ongoing saga of free agency and the draft upcoming, I thought I would ask those here of what you think are Miami's needs as of right now. IMO, Miami has done decently with free agency thus far. They have hit a few spots of concern (LB, DB, OL, QB), but I would like to know what positions, even considering the ones mentioned, YOU think Miami still needs help.

Here's my order of concern:

1. DB - Safety in particular. I think if Miami can pick up, particularly, a FS, they'd be pretty set on D.
2. QB - Backup. Miami lost Sage and Gussy. I wouldn't have minded having either to start the first few games of the season. Now we're stuck with Ms. Cleo....and she says the future does not look bright at this position.
3. OL - Can a team really have enough O-lineman? Especially this one?
4. WR - What if (let us hope not) Chambers or Booker falls during the season?
5. LB - I initially thought this would be a concern (esp. OLB), but now that I think about it, Holliday, Spragan, and the new guy from the 'Aints settle me; though, Arrington would be nice.

Thoughts?

Accidentally hit an "m" in the poll (after QB). Does not stand for anything...just a typo. Could not edit.

this is simple. there is NO QUESTION that out number need is Safety.adding another good LB would be great but having a play maker back there to help out our not that strong DBs is perfect. imagine if we end up with a player like E. REED OR T.POLAMALU. that would just make our D-FENCE so much better. NO QUESTION!!:dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins:

This isn't even close it's QBm! lol. But seriously, we don't have a healthy QB who has ever taken a snap in the NFL. We have some players at other positions and already remade the secondary. This vote should be a landslide.

So do you think Miami should draft or wait until Harrington is released in June?

Good post man! I agree 100% with your order of needs. We will get our backup QB and be fine but it is particularly the safety spot we need to fill. At this point our best safety is Yerimiah Bell. That's not good fellas. WR is not a dire need, I think we could really adress that posistion next year because I still believe Marty has a couple more years in him. We must get younger on defense.

My draft strategy, use the first day to get younger on defense and get that big time safety with the 16th pick. The rest of our picks we go after those specific needs as possibly projects or backup players.

PLEASE DRAFT WHITNER, HUFF, WILLIAMS, OR HILL!

yes i think the orther is right... and i also think we should wait on harrington.. worst case.. would be going for ex ram QB that completed 70% of his passes while going in for Bulger (that was what i heard in another post there...)
so i really don't see the rush... although det would of course want to get something or anything for him before he leaves....

I think safety is a need but hope we dont reach on Whitner or Allen trade down and get one of these guys if we want them.

For the immediate future (early part of this season), I think a backup QB is definitely priority #1. I don't think Culpepper will be ready to start the season, so we need a decent, experienced signal caller for a couple of games...anywhere from 2 or 3 games to possibly 7 games until we get to the bye week!

And even if Culpepper is ready to go right away or very early in the season, there's still the chance that he reinjures his knee...or injures anything for that matter...then we're back to needing that decent, experienced signal caller again!

exactly. We need that attitude and prescense there big time. Polamalu is making that D and being the face of that D. He is one of the greatest i have ever seen.
