As i read all these posts over and over about ONCE AGAIN fixing the team after yet ANOTHER bad season and SUPER BAD off season, it has become apparent that people are missing the big issue in all of this.

and BOSS ROSS is the most surprising!!

we had a PLAYOFF game with our most hated rival, do or die and the stadium was as EMPTY as i have seen it. no BUTTS in the seats!!! now, when you have a scenario like that and people are not putting their BUTTS in the seats, you have a BIG, BIG problem. a possible franchise killing problem!!

and i dont understand ross seemingly ignoring this fact that he aint gettin' no booty!! just a sea of orange seats which translates into LOSS OF revenue and a psychological effect on the team. everyone is all over philbin for the lackluster way the team looked, but they had all of about 82 people in the stands, against the teams hated rival, do or die, a playoff game in every sense!! BIG problem.

ross is a business man through and through. thats his loyalty and thats why he is able to own an nfl team. but, he doesnt seem to be talking about the lack of fan support. and its not quantum physics. its not figuring out the black holes, its TWO clear and fixable reasons. ONE: we are NOT WINNING, TWO: we have NO star power to get people to buy a ticket.

think this team isnt headed anywhere else? think a move hasnt or isnt being discussed in ernest by ross and company? a business CAN NOT SUSTAIN LACK OF PRODUCT SUPPORT AND LOSSES IN REVENUE!! ross didnt get to where he is by not seeing and acknowledging these sort of problems. and FIXING them!!

now, i know that most of us, the VAST MAJORITY of us know the first step in TRYING to fix this. changing the person in charge of getting marketable, winning players on the team. weather that happens this off season remains to be seen. but i feel it is somewhat odd we never hear him address the lack of BUTTS in the seats at the stadium.

this could be a more telling issue than meets the eye.

comments? thoughts?

Why was I expecting a picture of a flat assed woman? Must still be drunk from last night. Happy New Year everybody!

The 1 and 15 record at home created by sparano and henne over a two year period has a lot to do with that. That being said, I heard a lot of noise, and saw a lot of people at the last game, and the puke England game. I was at the Carolina game and it was full and loud.

I have come to the conclusion that Joe and Jeff need to be considered at the same time. While the final 2 games were an absolute disgrace, I think that we saw enough through the season to give them both another year. And if that performance doesn't meet expectations, then they both should be fired. The GM position needs to be selected before the Head Coach. Ideally the GM analyzes the Head Coaching options and works with the owner to make the best selection.
After the Patriots game we were 8 - 6 and 5 of the 6 losses we were very competitive. Then the wheels fell off in Buffalo and the final game was terrible. A year of decent improvement was marred in the final 2 games and it's difficult for me to understand why things unravelled so fast. My strong preference is for Joe to get another year. Were the final 2 games anomalies for the season, or did they reflect other issues that had been not previously exposed? I still don't know.
Instead of what could have been a 10 or 11 game winning season we end up 8 - 8. I say we keep them both for one year and set the minimum target for 2014 at a challenging 10 wins. Less than that and they both go. Ross needs to raise the bar, but Joe needs another year to fairly reflect what he is doing. Assessing Jeff's performance is more difficult. There are positives and negatives. I say they stay or go together.

I don't get it, why would he address it? He's trying to sell a product. Why would he bad mouth the product he's trying to sell? If anything he'd do what most owners do and lie about attendance figures to make it seem as though people are more interested than they really are. "Oh, we've already sold X amount of tickets, which is blah blah blah percent higher than last year." Happens all the time.

Ticket sales ultimately don't matter that much due to NFL revenue sharing. You want to put butts in seats and sell merchandise, for sure, but that's not the team's big financial problem right now.

A far bigger problem Ross has right now with the Dolphins (and the reason the team showed an operating loss this year) is that he stupidly bought the damn stadium with the team.

My wife and I went to the Chargers game and after being on this forum for so long I was expecting a low turnout and poor showing but the fan shop was packed, the line long to purchase items and although the crowd was slow to arrive for a 4pm game the stadium filled and was loud.

Hard to say what impact the overall turnout has on Ross.

HUH? where did you get bad mouthing from? thats was never mentioned and certainly not any point in my post.

to much egg nog? party still going at the DOLPHINS7273 HOUSE? :brewskis:

You don't need stars...you just need to win consistently. A star will only get you a bump in sales because people want to see if the star makes a difference...once they see that someone, let's say Brandon Marshall or Mike Wallace, isn't going to actually change anything in the win column...they all disappear again.

and i just saw this in the "ross mulling changes" article.................... .

Ross is concerned about the impact of the late collapse on attendance, which has sagged during the playoff drought.

so, he is addressing it. but, as i mentioned, is he addressing it as far as moving the team or what do we do to fix this here at home. i believe moving the team is a very real possibility and i am sure it is and has been discussed by ross and staff and the nfl. it is going to take some time, even with a complete change in staff to get the fans back. and some have mentioned revenue isnt as big a need with the stadium becasue of rev sharing, but, the effect it has on the team IS HUGE!! your at home and no one is there and you have NO inspiration from the crowd and no 12th man effect.

and revenue is revenue. losing any is a big deal. and there are many that are not showing up to the stadium who are not watching at home either because the team has fallen so far. and no stars to watch and root for.

it cant go on. something has to happen at some point.

If he is just waking up to this now, he truly is a dumbaZz.

NRA poses a theory I've been pondering for some time; namely moving the team to LA. it works... he gets a state if the art brand new stadium in the #2 market'; he'll get a SuperBowl as soon as it opens (and likely several thereafter); and his coveted high profile Hollywood fan. all he need do is show continued erosion of the Miami fanbase, growing blackouts of home games, and continued non-cooperation by local & state officials as to tax aids for stadium renovations/upgrades. since NFL owners pay no government taxes, Ross' writing red into his billion dollar corporate books would then support his contention that only by moving the team can he stem those loses.

so I'm staying pat with believing he won't change a thing.

I was at the Jets game and did not see a lot of orange seats. Seemed pretty full to me. Unless you're talking about the last two minutes of the game.
