For the first time in my long though rapidly fading memory the Dolphins are bringing only one true rookie into camp on the Oline. Look at the roster, only Joe Toledo has never been to a pro camp before. James, Hadnot, & Carey are returning starters. Brooks, Berger, and Alabi are returning back-ups. Smith is coming back off IR and Pape from reserve-did not report. Thompson was on the practice squad most if not all of last season. McIntosh and McKinney have been re-signed and Shelton, Pearson, and Anderson have been added through free agency. Emmanuel Akah comes in from NFLE though he has been in NFL camps before.

That leaves only fourth rounder Joe Toledo as a true rookie. I know we tried to add Chris McNeil as an UDFA but he quit after the rookie mini-camp.

Can any of the rest of you ever remember us going into camp with a full compliment of Olinemen and only one of them being a true rookie?

Houck has a lot of experiance to work with doesn't he?

That is interesting and a first that I can remember..

I kinda follow H.S. football recruiting or try.....but its funny that I remember Tony Pape being the #1 high school offensive line in the nation (and I think one of the top ten overall) coming out of high school in Hinsdale, IL then signing with Univ. of Michigan. Quitting football and then coming back and most likely on the bubble to even making the team??

When Pape first returned I thought he had a real chance but since then we have signed Pearson and Anderson. With those two signings I think Pape's chances have diminished.

I think it's amazing that we are heading to camp not majorly worried about our offensive line. I think we need to lock up Houck to a long term contract and feel lucky that he signs it.

Interesting fact, I like that Houck has loads of experience in his OL'men. They should be a very good OL this year.

In Saban We Trust!

I'm real excited to see how the line improves this year and really comes together..... hopefully dominating in the 4th qtr of those hot home games.... I can just see Ronnie making nice long runs... 1st down after 1st down.....

Doesn't Belichek use his practice squad to carry his developmental offensive line players? That seems to be why the Pats always have OL to plug in when they lose players. Maybe Saban has the same ideas and can start doing the same in Miami.

Interesting point..... I think you might be right. Broncos seem to do a great job of finding good lineman too.

I'm not sure but I think the only guys who would be eligible for the practice squad would be the two guys from NFLE, Thompson and Akah and perhaps Berger, Brooks, and Pape. Of course Toledo could also but I doubt we could slip him through waivers.

You are ineligible to go on the PS if you have been active on a 53 man roster so many games. I couldn't find the precise rules and numbers on the NFL site.

At least two veterans will be looking for employment at the end of camp unless we can deal them for picks. Major change from former years when we were the team scanning the waiver wires isn't it?!
