Odds Miami Goes 6-0 From Here

It's not an easy game, and I think the Dolphins are going to lose on Sunday. But I can't see the Ravens winning 2 road games against playoff contenders AND beating the Patriots who need to win to get in also. So hopefully we can ride out this week and get in the playoffs. That's way more than I could have ever asked for based on how bad that mid-season stretch went for us.

And the NY Jets lost. This isn't relevant to this conversation, but it is alway nice to be able to say, any time I get the chance.

The point is getting CTOD and being able to overcome the pressure that comes with it is hard for even the best teams. Young teams with very little experience have even less chance. And this isn't something that happens just this year.

1. I agree about your Jets comment. Whenever you get to acknowledge another Jets loss...you do so...no question. I hate them.

2. I disagree about your young team comment. Since they are young, they have no experience in big, must win conditions. Lots of young teams approach such moments "with an innocent wonder" about it.

Miami is a young team. Their coaching staff is laid back and savvy. Their confidence is growing, and their fan base is coelescing. This has all the hallmarks of a run...a deep run into and through the playoffs.

I may be wrong about this year...but God help the rest of the league next year with this group.

Is there any historical basis for saying this has all the "hallmarks" of a run? While there has been a trend of teams without byes winning the SB the last three years, those teams were already rich in playoff experience. I think if we're talking about an underdog having "hallmarks" then that would be the type of team to do it - a team who is already rich in big game experience and maybe already won a SB, but underachieved a bit during the regular season.

When I used the term "hallmarks" to describe current team and fan circumstances towards a deep run into the playoffs, they apply only to "Miami history."

Miami has a history of taking advantage of special trends and garnering special records...at least twice in the past (70's and 80's.)

It just feels special right now...and the last time I felt like this about the Finz was some decades ago now.

I still don't get what you're trying to say. This Dolphins team is nothing like the ones of the 70s and 80s.

I am finding it difficult to describe.

Damn...observational feelings are the toughest to communicate sometimes.

The Finz look good right now. They are gaining confidence. They're in control. And their fans are freaking out. Everything looks good right now...and my personal expectations about them and their fate this year are high.

Don't get me wrong, I get what you're saying. The team is hot and good vibes are everywhere. I just don't see the "elements" of a big run being in place.

Last I saw, we had a 1% chance of winning it. I'm proud of the way we played. I think the goal this year was playoffs. I don't think we can realistically start thinking Super Bowl for another year or two. But hey, the Giants got hot and pulled it off twice in the last seven years, so anything is possible I guess!

In my opinion, Tannehill is way better than Eli any day.

On hypothetical scenario, if Dolphins win it all, there still be people thinking that is not a good thing, because it means we have to keep Ireland at least one more year. :chuckle: so funny.

Going 6-0 from here would equate to a Super Bowl win.

Miami is on a 3-0 streak right now. To win another 6 games in a row seems more than daunting.

The odds must be overwhelming for Miami to ultimately win 9 straight games to close out the 2013 season.

If it should happen, can you imagine how incredulous it would all be?

I am a one-game-at-a-time fan, but Miami is showing me something I have not seen in this team since the early days of Dan Marino...or in the 70s....a fierce will to win games.

These past 3 weeks have shown us that this current iteration of the Miami Dolphins is a much better team than in recent decades.

Yes...it has been decades!

I'd say............in general..........ZERO :-(

Sad but true

I look at it this way, the odds we get in are looking pretty good considering the way the schedule lines up. From there all teams are the same. I know Denver is considered the big dog of the AFC but they were beat by the Chargers, Colts, and Pats...all teams the Dolphins beat. I think Miami right now is one of those teams nobody wants to play.

It's not IMPOSSIBLE. Pittsburgh, The Giants, and Green have all done similar feats recently. Big Ben was a second year qb, Eli was like a 3rd or 4th year qb, Rodgers was like in year 3 as a starter. But it's highly unlikely and it's better to not think of that until we actually get to the postseason, which won't be an easy task itself. I really hate the "one week at a time" cliche but this might be one of the few instances it's 100% applicable. We have to kill our division rivals first which is never easy. After that all bets are off.
