To be honest, i think pittsburgh is going to crush us. But thats just me i suppose...

that's about right for a preseason game... plus, there's no guarantee Ward will play... Staley is out... and the dropoff for backing up Roethlisberger is substantial... they base the preseason lines very much on QB and RB depth... plus, their second string defense didn't look much better than ours the other night...

although, i will say that i LOVE Verron Hayes, and Pittsburgh should be giving him the ball a LOT more..

why bother with odds in a pre-season game? I never understood that. Maybe like us football fanatics, the gamblers need their fix :)

some handicappers swear by preseason success... they make a living off of it... there are certain complex clues to look for, and they are proven consistent winners...

that's classic... especially "Do you have 12 million people in your family? I have 4. Five, if you count my turtle. I named him Donovan McTurtle."

TT your sig is kwality... that letter had me in stitches.

If the Steelers play us like they did the Eagles, we are in DEEEEEP DOODOO!!!!

That's exactly correct. I live in Las Vegas but travel extensively every summer for a needed escape from the mental stress of sports betting. When I return early in September many of my closest friends have already finished their NFL betting for the entire season. That is no exaggeration. They pound the preseason then switch to college football and never bet the NFL regular season at all.

Primarily those are the guys who feast on information and not situational and statistical trends or matchups, things I rely on. They burn up phone lines and scan the internet and online papers for clues to who will play, how long, and how much emphasis the team was placing on the game. In the regular season that stuff is obviously irrelevant.

Last week a couple of Vegas buddies emailed me and said they were backing Jacksonville heavily against us. Apparently Jacksonville is struggling as a small market team, unable to sell out games to get the blackout lifted and in much worse financial shape than the league as a whole. My friends read accounts from Jacksonville that the franchise considered preseason success a must to get the community rallied around the team and would play with unusual intensity, especially at home. I wasn't smart enough to back that astute theory with cash.
