Odell out another Year

Goodell is definately flexing his muscles right now and he's not taking any crap for play misconduct anymore. I do think two years is excesive though because now you deny the player two years of making a living.

Don't act like a damn idiot and you won't get denied, REAL SIMPLE!!!!

And Odell Thurman had more problems than simply "one missed test, and a DUI"

He has so much talent too. What a dumb *** to put himself in this situation. I like that Goodell is making examples outta guys like this.

i agree, this isnt very fair at all. he took a full year off for what he did. let the kid play, the more hes off the field the more trouble can find him

I was going by what the article had mentioned. If Odell has been in more trouble than those 2 situations fine, maybe the 2 years is warranted but the artivle only mentions those and that is why i think its excessive.

No one can really think a missed drug test and DUI warrants a 2 year lay off.

One thing I do not understand about the article is that Odell was suspended for the 1st 4 games, then the article states Goddell lengthened the suspension for the entire year...How is this possible when Goddell wasnt even the commissioner last september, Tagliabue was, and I though Thurman was suspended for the entire year last right right off the bat, not 4 games 1st and then the rest?!

Pacman or Vick should be in the neighborhood of two years more than Thurman. Pacman is a thug plain and simple, he goes looking for trouble while Vick is just sick in the head.

Thats what I was wondering too

if i remember right, he missed the test, was suspended 4 games, then when he got the DUI he was suspended a year by either the league or the bengals. i dont think goddell had a hand in this, either way this is wrong.

He probably just wanted to make an example out of someone plain and simple and Thurman was the next in line

Yeah, thats what happened. It was the league that suspended him for the season. Another full year suspension sounds harsh. I wonder if there's more to the story that hasn't surfaced yet. It's a shame because Thurman is a heck of a player.

We may have a reason why he was denied reinstatment...

Bengals fans were up in arms a week ago when the NFL announced, with no explanation, that Thurman's request for reinstatement following a one-year suspension had been denied.
But the league apparently was onto something when it decided not to bring Thurman back for the 2007 season, as evidenced by the fact that Thurman failed to report to a probation officer on July 24.
The failure to report constitutes a violation of Thurman's probation, and could result in incarceration.
