Odrick and Oliver Vernon picks are crutial to the Dolphins success

I didn't say a word about Kendall Langford. I talked about Matt Roth and Koa Misi being similar to Jason Taylor. Didn't say anything about Langford. There's no way I'd call Langford a bust.

Thanks, I was wondering where Sherif got the stop gap quote of yours, I had to reread the thread trying to find it.. I thought Langford did a heck of a job here...will miss him.

Langford a bust? Nothing surprises me on Finheaven anyways.

They better step up and give Wake some help!

It has been stated many times how Wake has an almost superhuman ability to "bend" when rushing from the left attacking the right tackle. Vernon will probably play RE on nickel and dime situations with Odrick moving inside with Starks. Should be formidable if Vernon can provide any type of rush.

Yeah, but on first downs when Starks and Soliai are plugging the middle, would Odrick and Wake flip if the strong side were on the right side of the offense?

Langford a bust.......but signs a 4 yr $24m contract with $12m guaranteed!

Much like Seymour in Oakland, Odrick will rotate between DE/DT depending on down & situation.

I hope Coyle improves the secondary as much as he did in Cinci.

We will see a huge difference in our run defense this year without Langford. I never understood the criticism towards him. The guy was the most solid player on our team for like 4 years! He was the heart of our Run Defense. The staple that kept our line together.

We lost a huge contributor there and hopefully someone steps up.

Vernon could be that guy.

Langford was not a bust but the Dolphins drafted Jared Odrick and I do feel he will be better long term than Langford. We have Paul Soliai under contract to help with the run stopping effort and unless he gets fat and lazy again, that should be enough. What we need is more pass rush because the league is heading in that direction. Randy Starks is a player I hope they try and keep locked up for a while, for that reason. We need guys that can play on nickel downs.

Also Olivier Vernon should be a prety good run stopper. Have seen a lot of games of his now from 2010 and 2011 and I'm not sure I even once saw him clearly lose a strength match. Stalemate was pretty much the worse he did when it came to strength on strength.

i'd take odrick over langford right now...no doubt...odrick is becoming a force as a interior pass rush presence...he's not dominant when he's on the way jj watt is who is the prototype 34 de but with more 4 man fronts and another year in the books to polish his game i expect big things from odrick in 2012...he's the best interior pass rusher on the team right now period and the best pass rusher other than wake period...odrick had a nice 2011...

vernon the more i've watched the more i think like ck says he can hold up in run support...i think we may get more out of him early than just situational edge rushing...he can stack and shed he's very strong in the upper body evidenced by the 31 reps of 225 at the combine and he has good strength in his hands...i have seen a lot of evidence of him standing up guys and being stout against the run directly at him...shedding the blocker (even tossing a few guys and making plays in the backfield)...although i will say that the more i see from him as a pass rusher the more i think he's a guy that likes to go through you not around you and not much beat you with edge quickness and tools...there's some stiffness a lot like cam wake in his hips but he changed directions and showed pretty good fluidity of his movements and an ability to drop his hips at the combine...

That's why I've been saying the very worst that Olivier Vernon will be is a Jamaal Westerman type player. Westerman at this stage is a two down guy for run downs that doesn't help much in pass rush. Vernon could be that immediately, but should be more.

i seem to recall thinking westerman had a pretty good initial get off of the ball when i would see him off the edge with the jets...but it never seemed to materialize in any pass rush results...

Has anyone from the team come out and said that Wake is going to be playing Strong side like he has in the past? It would not surprise me if he stayed on the strong side but you would think that Oddrick would be better as a strong side guy because he is just so much bigger than Wake..We have seen tho that Wake can hold his own on the strong side since he plays so violent. If we go with a 4 man line with wake, starks, Soliai and oddrick we will be alot more explosive than we were with Langford..but by how much? I dont expect it to be drastic. I think you will see us blitz alot more...perhaps some more zone blitzes since we have Dansby. I also wonder how often our d line will be 2 gapping..I am not certain how often we did this this last year would be interesting to know... as far as Vernon goes whatever pass rush he can contribute will be very helpful..Maybe there is a chance he starts at De?

I think Starks is Miami's best interior pass rusher. Odrick has to potential to be better but as of right now it's all about Randy.

I don't think you're going to be thinking it was "sweet" when we have to play him.

yeah the draft causes alot of people to peat and repeat the same stuff to the point it actually becomes believable. Now was the guy lazy on plays?
yeah, but at the same time, he is the kind of guy who plays three downs and you dont take out cus he can stop the run and rush the passer.

That said, I think Coples is the kind of guy where is he is having a good year, you just run away from him and watch him jog across the field uninspired all day. I also dont know how the hell he fits into the jets D unless they too are switching back to 4-3 which i doubt.
