Ok guys I know we have 3 more games, but I was talking with a friend and these are the moves I would love to see the Dolphins do in the preseason:

Free Agency: Everybody wants a stud here, but few are allowed to depart their teams. Because of this fact, I have 3 here that I think we have a legit chance of getting:

1) Le Charles Bentley (Center) He is a free agent, he is 26 6'4 325 lbs. This is the kind of center coach H. loves. A powerful, pivot man, who can ancored the lines for many years.

2) Plaxico Burress (wr) He will test the market again after the season is over, and althought NY will try to re sign him, but he has a conection with Saban dating back to Michigan state. He is 28, but at 6'5 and with good speed he would look really good opposite Chambers.

3) Sam Adams (nt/dt) Word out of Buffalo is that he is going to be let go. I know he is a 12 year vet, but at 6'4 345 lbs he is still at the top of his game. Traylor may retire next year, and this guy would be a great mentor to our young Dt's.

2006 Draft:
Round 1:Chad Greenway (OLB) This 6'4 245 lbs guy from Iowa is the type of Lb Saban loves. I believe Junior will not come back next year, so I see Chad feeling in nicely, the kid has an all out motor.

Round 2: Omar Jacobs (Qb) Sure everybody is in love with Cutler, but he wont be here at this time. We need a Qb to groom, and Omar has all the right tools for Linehan's style. With lots of coaching I believe his mechanics will improve, and he does have a strong arm, size, and accuracy.

Round 3: Andy Whitworth (LT) For some reason his stock has been dropping lately. Saban coached this guy at LSU, so he knows him well. At 6'7" 325 lbs he would, in my opinion, be an improvement from what we now have at LT.

the rest of the draft I say go best player available.

well guys what do you think?

Le Charles Bentley I dont think will have the chance to test the market imo. Everything else seems preaty good. I would also put Julian Peterson on the list of F/a possibilites. Omar in the 2nd...I dont know about that either! Is he even coming out this year??

Burress has like a six year contract from the Giants. Bentley I think will be franchised and as for Adams....he may be to old to play at a high level anymore. I do like Greenway in the first if he is the BPA but Jacobs isnt coming out and he is not worth a 2nd round imo and Whitworth probably wont last to the 3rd.

The free agent picks are questioable, but I like getting Greenway with the first pick.

From what I have been hearing, do to the changes in the collective bargain agreement after next year, Jacobs is coming out (with a lot of other top rated juniors). I read here yesterday where Boomer had heard the same thing about Omar. As far as Bently, he will be a free agent next year, and i dont see the Saints franchising him, But who knows.... And Peterson..wow that would be sweet! but he will be comanding so much money, I dont know is Saban will be willing to spend that kind of money on a Lb, In my opinion he is worth it, when healthy Julian is a top LB.

You got some very valid points. But I remember reading some where that Plax has a clause in his contract where he could test the free agent market in 2006, i dont have a link but i believe i heard that somewhere. As far as Withworth and Jacobs (and yes he is coming out) well...how about this:
Withworth with our 2nd rd. and Jacobs with our 3rd. Although i dont think Omar will last until the middle of the 3rd.

I do agree with Whitworth in the 2nd but as for Jacobs Im not sold on him at all. The system he is allows quarterbacks to put up huge numbers. I believe he is to much a product of the system. Josh Harris was in the same system and huge numbers like Jacbos. I see Jacobs along the lines of Andre Ware or David Klingler.

Well, he's a good center but I doubt they'll let him go.Burress, if he's really a free agent and we can afford him then yes.Adams? Forget about it.he's too old and we're already loaded with older guys up front.

The picks,I'd love to have Greenway and I'd take him if Cutler's gone in the first.Jacobs, I'm not intersted and the other guy won't be there in the 3rd imo.

but we have Carter,Holliday, Traylor and JT...all over 30....we need to give playing time to the young guys like Vickerson,Manny and Roth.

Traylor may retire

With sam adams we can still play a 3-4

and in the 4-3 we can play manny wright with him

or if traylor doesnt retire we can play a 4-3 with them both and rotate in our young guys

its only better to have more great D-lineman

I see your point but who do you get rid of?And do we need to spend money on a 32 year old DT when we can really use another top WR(Wayne?) or a LB(Julian?)or even a safety? I don't have anything agaisnt Adams but we have bigger needs...that's all I'm saying.

DT wont be a huge contract especially since adams is having a below average year

get rid of Zgonina

We do have bigger needs I agree, but remember a great D-line helps the LB's and a pass rush can mask a slightly below average secondary

We finish 7-9 overall.

Cut Seau and Reggie Howard
Let Traylor retire

Free Agency:
Resign Hadnot
Resign Schulters
LeCharles Bentley: We make a pretty generous offer, and get him here on a 4-5 year contract.
Hutchinson: We make a competitive offer, but I don't think we land him
Julian Peterson: If we don't go with a roud 1 linebacker, look for us to make a push for this guy. We would be solid for the next few years.
Sam Adams: I never really thought about this one, but I'd like to see us make a 1-2 year offer for this guy until Manny and Roth beef up.

Draft:
Round 1: Trade Up! We have a pick between 9-11, but we trade up to #6 to get either Brady Quinn or Vince Young (both may declare because of the upcoming collective bargaining agreement). We burn our this year's #2 and #4, and next year's #3. But hey, we set at QB for a long time.
Round 2: traded away
Round 3: Jason Allen, CB, Tennessee. Obvioiusly a guy Saban would be familiar with. Was an all-american until a knee injury ended his season. Would have been first-round talent easy (sort of like Crowder). This, plus the return of Poole, will allow us to move Travis Daniels over to safety.
