Hey. I think the Offense has to be our number 1 priority this off-season. Should we pay more attention t our needs on defense(secondary) or our needs on offense(QB)

I think we need a young QB, but the offense is growing nicely. It is an absolute necessity that the team upgrade the secondary. Another safety and a good CB for sure, then address the birthday disease currently growing among the DL/LB corps.

We need to work on the Secondary for sure, even more so if we let Madison go/trade him. With Ronnie having a year under his belt, Ricky getting back in groove, the o-line going into second year coached under Hudson H., so our running game should take pressure off of having to pass a crap load in the game. I see Saban taking defense in the draft in the 1st, and then we focus on offense in the offseason.

Why exactly is it either/or? QB is obviously our #1 priority, but it's not going to stop them from trying to upgrade the defense.

I have all the faith in the world tha saban can effectively AND with the utmost efficiency,do both.

1st round CB if we don't get a qb
2nd round If possible get a qb (Omar Jacobs) if not a safety of OL
3rd round a LB for the 3 4 system that will be applied next season
4th for depth purposes QB/S/WR/CB

We will not need a dt as we have Vickerson/Wright

Free agency Seconday help Law/Archuleta
OLIne Help Hutchinson/Bentley

Any comments?

throwing my two cents in...priorities are first a qb, then the secondary, then an OT. depends entirely on who's available when we pick. if there's no first round talent at qb (leinhart and young will be long gone, and if culter goes earlier), go to secondary or even OLB. if we didn't get a qb in round one, look for one in round two - possibly jacobs. if he's gone, or has slipped in rankings, go for more talent on defense. the draft seems deep enough in o-linemen that we'll get a good prospect in the third. my biggest concern is at qb, because the dropoff in talent is very quick after the top four guys.

We need to look at improving @ QB, whether it be developmentally or an immediate impact starter (pretty unlikely on that), but otherwise, the O is pretty much there.

Just my opinion, but retooling our D should be where the weight of our effort should be focused; specfically @ secondary.

We have serious holes to fill in several positions. The offseason (FA, re-signings and draft) should be concentrated on filling as many of those holes as possible...

My list of holes in this team (not in priority order)...

CB, S, QB, RG. These are the minimum spots to be looked at.

Second level needs (Either backups, STrs, or general upgrade): LB - Seau is probably gone and he'll need to be replaced. Glenn is an ace STer, he needs to be re-signed or replaced. ZT is getting up in age. S...if Schulters and Jones are re-signed we still will need some depth and youth at that position. CB...Madison is likely gone. Daniels may be better suited to S at this level, If we sign a big name FA, we still need backups. QB if we sign a big name FA, is Gus going to be our backup. LT..still a position of need. We have some decent players at the position but none are better than good.

Some of these will overlap...(i.e. if a FA big name QB is signed, then backup QB must be addressed...will Gus take that role and are we paying him too much to be the backup, Jason Glenn is a FA, is he going to be resigned and if not we have to replace him, etc).

The first step will be to see where we are after Saban trims the roster to get us under the cap in late Feb. Then we'll have a better idea of who we have to replace. Then in FA, he can shop around to see who is available. I'm sure he and Mueller will have a plan and list of potential guys they want by then...

We have so many holes (and patches) that our problems are really multiyear, and won't be fixed in this offseason. Saban and Co. will probably fix the most glaring problems first.
The quarterback issue has taken centerstage recently. Our secondary was not very good, and we'll probably lose Madison and Howard. We're still looking for the right type of defensive lineman and linebackers to really run a 3-4. And the offensive line should be upgraded whenever possible to protect our strength, the running backs.
There's more defense than offense in that list, so I expect Saban to get us a quarterback and turn his attention to defense.

I hate to break the spirit and high hopes of everybody around here. Dont get me wrong, I do believe the Dolphins will be in the playoffs next year, however, were not going to be able to do better then a 10-6 record if dont fill in these holes. I think we have to fill in the Qb, and secondary holes for an playoff spot, and then for a playoff run, we fill in the rest of the holes.

it's very simple.... QB and Secondary both need to be addressed this offseason. and they will.

after that, we could use a guard, a number 2 wideout, 3-4 style defenders.... speed rushers, big Ends, a NT.

1) QB or feeeeel the fires of hellll- Draft or FA
