Since it is fairly clear that our weakness is the offense and not the defense(since the secondary is playing better) I wanted to discuss or evaluate the talent on offense.

1. Offensive Line: The line has really started to gel another game with no sacks and no penalties(chiefs). IMO, the weakest link is Jeno James and I believe next years replacement is already on the roster, either fontinou(sp) or berger or toledo. Right now the line is playing well and changing it would be a mistake just like all the changes we made at the end of last year. Lets go with the guys we have, I seriously don't see a big need here. We already have 3 drafted guys "developing". Unless we pick someone with our first pick I just don't see him sniffing the field next year.

2. QB: This is a tough one, Joey is playing "OK" to "good". He avoided mistakes against the chiefs which was good, but I honestly just think we need more from that position. IMO, if we had a good QB the chiefs game isn't even close. Then we got culpepper, whoch imo could fill the need but nobody really knows. I beleive he will start day 1 next year. Do we draft a QB at some point in the draft? I would, but not necessarily early unless its too good to pass up.

3. WR: I know alot of people will disagree with me but I think this is one of the weakest positions on the team. I like chambers, I think he is good but not great in anyway. I don't understand the reverses to chambers simply because I have a hard time remembering ever seeing chambers break or avoid a tackle. I have no idea what his stats are but I would suspect his YAC is extremely low, especially considering he leaves his feet or dives for balls he could catch in stride. Booker, well I honestly don't like booker much, he is another guy I don't understand, one game he looks good the next several games he falls and stumbles on every other play. We need a guy who can catch a 10 yard pass and take it home. Hagan: unknown not enough information but looks real promising. Wes Welker is a gamer and should never be removed from the slot or 3rd wide receiver. And in all honesty should get more balls thrown his way. If I was coach I would have chambers and hagan starting next year with wes as the third and a newly drafted WR as the 4th guy.

4: RB: I like ronnie brown, the last 2 games he has really started to look like the guy we drafted #2, I see some patience and I see him setting up some blocks, he is definitely growing. I believe we HAVE to draft another RB this year, yes I would love to have ricky back but can any sain personel person would not count on him in anyway. Sammy morris is ok in an ideal world he would be the third running back.

5: TE: We need to draft another tight end really really badly. McMichael has been up and down and is a good tight end, but we use 2 tight ends alot like other teams and another tight end that is a real threat could change this offense into something special.

thats it...

I agree about drafting a TE and another reciever. OL is a position you draft at least one player every year. If we get a high pick, drafting a qb is a must if there's a quality player available.

Sammy is a fine third down back but if ronnie goes down we're screwed. We could use another solid backup but if Ricky can prove he can be reliable then he would help us so much.

I agree with the TE, but we don't need to draft another back. We have our choice of either Riggs Jr. or Harris or Ricky, sorry, but no sense in wasting another draft pick on a special teams contributor. Again I too would continue to draft on both sides of the line & certainly take a hard look at the LB position.

We need to draft a qb. Joey is ok but he will never take us to the superbowl imo. We have tried to many bandaids at the qb position. Injured and castaways of other teams. Let's gamble on some skill talent at the qb postion.

If Pep has any more heart left to fight, he'll be our qb next year for the full season. If we don't have a nice run here maybe we can get Pep back out there to see where he's at.

The best move of the season was putting LJ Shelton at right guard and D-Mac back at tackle. For the first 7 games, our oline was playing 2 yards deep in their own backfield. Last 2 games they are playing 3 yards downfield. Our weak point is quickly becoming a strong point.
Draft Zach Miller from ASU, a great blocker and a tremendous receiver.
As much as I want Joey to be the answer he is not. He's a cross between AJ Feeley and Gus. A strong arm with no touch without a lot of accuracy. Personally, I want more balls to be thrown to my wide out than my running back.

I agree with you, dr. fletcher, that Zach Miller would be a good choice. He is a beast and can catch the ball.

The next item would be a great OLineman from free agency (isn't ironic that we could have brought in Hutchinson, kept Gus and not gone after CPep or Joey and been farther ahead?).

I don't know who is out there, except a former Hawkeye on Cincy named Steinbach. He's been a starter up there since the first game his rookie year.

i agree id take ricky back in a heart beat, no need to spend a draft pick on a rb this offseason. If Ricky gets paid like he did last year, that would be a tremendous, i cant stress enough, tremendous steal. Not only for our cap space, but our offense, and team altogether.

I agree about Chambers, he is too inconsistant, drops far too many passes and doesn't seem to get open enough to the point of just disappearing at times. I like the guy I think he's got good character but I dont think he's a #1 WR I mean our #2 in Booker is more consistent than our #1...that is a flaw in this offense.
