Just to give you some insight on the task that Parcells and Ireland have in the coming years via free agency. Below is a break down in yardage and percentage based on last season totals of what the Dolphins will loose if every free agent leaves on the offensive side of the ball in 2010.

Team Passing -3761

Pennington -3653
Brown -41

Team Receiving -3761

Brown -254
Williams -219
Bess -554
Fasano -454
Martin -450

Team Rushing -1897

Brown -916
Williams -659

98% Loss in passing production
51% Loss in receiving production
83% Loss in rushing production

This is a staggering task to compensate for and if you look at the way the front office is resigning free agents there is no way that everyone on this list gets resigned. This doesn’t even take into account the defensive side of the ball, several back up’s along the O-line and RFA’s.

This team will get younger by default and it will also get built to weather the coming years much better. With the infusion of young draft picks and the staggering of veteran contracts I hope that the Dolphins of 2011, 12, 13, 14, 15 are the new Patriots of the league. The process to undue the harm done by years of pour signings and drafts is daunting. Keep the faith and remember it might get worse before it gets better but the days of 1-15 are behind us as well as the days of sacrificing win now for win for years!

These stats are a little misleading.

We have a QB (maybe two) waiting in the wings to replace our number 1.
We're improving the WR position.
Parcells is great at finding RB's. He had two legitimate starters in Dallas before he left (Jones and Barber).

. . .

The only issue would be if Henne isn't ready to step in, but there's been nothing to suggest this would be the case.

. . .

As this post stands, though, it serves as an excellent example of how one can distort reality via statistics.

Bess and Brown will be back, guaranteed. Fasano and Pennington might come back if the price is right.

Oh I never said they would all leave or expect them too. Obviously you will not loose over 70% of your offensive production over a years time no matter who leaves. It is just a huge amount of FA's in one year and the way the front office is signing people it is obvious they do not want to this to happen again. I just thought it was amazing that such a huge percentage of the offense was allowed to be on the open market at the same time. Wow!
