Offensive line gets shaken up in Monday's practice

Per Dolphin Digest.com, Vernon Carey was moved to RT, Damien Mcintosh worked at starting LT and Stockar Mcdougle was demoted to working with the second team. Hopefully something good will come of this.

The changes in the offensive line got serious today when the Dolphins put Damion McIntosh back at left tackle and Vernon Carey at right tackle on Monday. Beyond that, coach Nick Saban continued to be critical of the line's ability to work together and said the lineman had yet to "buy in to" what the coaches are trying to teach.

Well, the right side was getting blown up last night more consistently then the left, I will say that.

Not to mention starting the game with a false start penalty... I know a lot of posters here were high on McDougale coming in here, but I really have not seen ANYTHING good...

I thought Carey was doing well at LT... why not leave him there and put St Clair back at RT?? Or I guess they have other plans for St Clair?
 
I know its only preseason and we want everybody to work everywhere but beleive that Carey shouldnt be moved to RT. LT is far more valuable, and he needs all the reps he can get to get comfortable. Bust Stockar's butt to say the least!

He is just stating what anyone that knows anything about offensive lines would tell you.

That was my first thought.

Or why not move McIntosh to RT?
 
Maybe next game they will be able to gel and work Houk's zone!

hopefully cut him... St Clair is horrible.

I never thought st clair was worse than any of the others. Why is this group so bad? James, St. Clair and Mcdougle were supposedly good on their old teams. Now they stink for us, i dont get it.

Im pretty sure we will try and sign any decent offensive lineman who are cut from other teams. Kinda like Pete Kendall last season. Hopefully we can get a center that way.
 
I kind of saw the same thing Astro mentioned....I thought the right side was getting beat more often than the left...I also thought Carrey held his own out there....McKinney still sucks donkey nuts.

Agreed completely. Carey has been great at LT- I don't like this move one bit. If you want to demote McDougle, fine. But put St.Clair in at RT. I honestly think we're flip-flopping the o-line way, way too much. You need continuity and chemistry more on the o-line than anywhere else on the field and that is not going to happen if the same 5 guys aren't consistently playing next to each other all the time. If we're going to play St.Clair at RT instead of guard, it should look like this with NO MORE FLIP-FLOPPING:


LT- Carey
LG- James
C- Hadnot
RG- Middleton
RT- St.Clair
