im just curious what you guys think our offensive philosophy should be.

what should our identity be?
what formations should we run?
what personnel should we have on the field the most?

obviously it changes from week to week based on what defense you face. i want to know specifically what you would have done diffrently in the pitt game and what your game plan for the bills would be.

PASSING.. I know we had a bad game against pittsburgh, but its one game and it was against a defense that didn't skip a beat

We were doing the right thing, the first half. Short passing, taking advantage of what they gave us. If we had followed up on that, it would have opened up opportunities for the run. Instead, we abandoned it.

RUN

well u could kinda see what saban has planned for our team from the first quarter. we are gonna be primarily a running team that occasionally takes a shot deep. problem was, our offensive lineman just could NOT_COMPETE with pittsburgh defensive front 7. so we passed the rest of the game, and pretty well really.

however, when we play a lesser team, u will see us running the ball much more.

Run the ball often, pass the ball downfield. That's basic NFL winning football and always will be. Any team that pretends a dump off pass or quick out is the equivalent of a running play will be snuffed out, and rightfully so.

Especially on the road the key is to control the ball in the first half and make sure you get to 15 rushing attempts ASAP. If you want a 9/21 run-pass ratio like last night, you want 10% chance to win. That's backed up by decades worth of stats. If anyone subjectively disputes it, sorry but you are dead wrong. Just because the mainstream media doesn't proclaim it doesn't mean they know what they are doing.

In the NFL an average of 82-85% of the games are won by the team with highest number of rushing attempts, and that's hardly a function of having the lead in the 4th quarter. Chart a few games starting this Sunday and that will be abundantly clear. The rushing attempts come early and they are deadly to the opposition.

I wondered from the start why we didn't pass across the middle? Why we didn't involve Chris
Chambers in the beginning of the game. I think
we should have came out passing more to get
a quick score instead of trying to establish the
run against a good run defense like Pittsburgh. Also I remember one 3rd and 2 play that I thought
they just blew the game with that play calling.

But they will improve and be okay in the long run.

The rollout was working real well. Against a team like the steelers I would have liked to see more screen plays to slow down their rush..... I would like to see more shots down the field out of the shotgun formation, and more off tackle runs vs. all the razzle dazzle trick play stuff.

I loved the short passes, the dumpoffs to the WR's when the DB's played soft, and the crossing routes. Unfortunately, if you never change this up, you end up with DB's jumping the routes and getting picks like the Steelers did in the 4th quarter last week.

The Dolphins were playing a very good defense but I think the Steelers exposed the Dolphins weaknesses. Unfortunately, our defense was exposed by a team without a great offense.

This Dolphins team is very similar to last years and didn't address the weaknesses sufficiently (OL and DB's). We will probably end up with approximately the same result 9-7.

GO PHINS~!

I thought Culpepper recognised the Blitz well and didnt panic like some fans thought. The guy is a vet so i say play to his strengths. I want to see him stretch the field passing and a decent running game to set it up. Pepper can run but after his injury its understandable to not see him in full flight just yet. McMichael should be used more because i dont think Macca is used as much as he should be.

this is 100% dead on. some of the names have changed at OL and DB but the talent or lack thereof is still the same. daunte could make us better than 9-7 but im not too sure how confident everyone is about that right now.
