Offensive scoring leads to having a defense that gives up yards

One could also argue that Chargers blow a hole in my theory

they improved from 4 to 2 in scoring but also improved their defense from 11 to 1. I think they are the exception though and not the norm.

You can't possibly tell me that you don't want to have the offense that the Packers, Saints, Patriots or Panthers have right now.

The Patriots almost won the SB last year with a horrible defense, but when the Pats score 30+ points a game, they don't have to have the best defense to beat most teams. They ran into a good defensive team like the NY Giants during the SB, and the better and more complete team won. I just hope our offense can step it up and we can get more than the 16 points we seem to average every year. I think our hurry up offense should do exactly that. :up:

In yet, none of those teams won the superbowl this past season. Defense is still half of the game. (technically one third if you count special teams) You cant win with a terrible defense and elite offense. Defense still trumps offense when it matters in the postseason.

Id rather have the giants defense from last year then patriots offense.

ROFL, a certain team's defense is built to play with a lead? That made me giggle. The Colts have always spent their money on offense (read, P Manning) and when a QB driven team's QB goes down, so does their team. I think what you meant to say is that they never put enough money and draft picks into their defense WINNING a football game.

On the other hand as far as the prevent defense. Defenses do not go into it in the 1st Qtr when they are up 7 points. It might be used in the last couple of drives of a game if their team is up by more then 2 scores.

When you are paying $15 million a season for your QB, part of your team is going to get less money. Plus, you tend to give your super QB another WR over giving the defense a better MLB. It is all where you spend your money and your draft picks.

The Patriots went big on defense this season in the draft. I think they got it that they need to be more balanced to win it all again.

It's true that the Pats and Packers' defenses werent as bad as the yardage allowed stats showed, but the Panthers hada legitimately terrible defense. I think they wre 28th in points allowed last year.

Yeah but when their backs were to the wall they won 6 straight games.

The defense was dominant during that stretch holding opponents to an average of 14 points a game and only 323 yards.

When it counted they were the #1 in points and yards.

Just the same as in golf its not how you start but how you finish.

That explains why they did make the playoff that year.

They have got to be one of the few team in the top 5 of both that did Nothing.

tell that to the 2010 chargers who had the number offense and defense in the league, the giants who had the 5th ranked offense and 7th ranked defense, the eagles who had the 2nd ranked offense and 12th ranked defense. the packers who finished 9th in offense but 5th in defense and the saints who finished 6h in offense and 4th in defense. this is all from 2010. last year was an anomaly. it is very possible to a have a great offense and defense at the same time. thast pure garbage that the media spewed out in an attempt to defend those teams terrible defenses.
