Offensive Tackle Tandems

Dolphins are # 1 for years to come

SD, Car, NE, Mia are the 4 best in my book with Mia on top at tackles only.

where do you guys think we rank with big Jake and Vernon as our bookends? I have no clue
I am not sure where we rank, but I will say it is definitely near the top of the league. Getting solid tackles, especially left tackles, in this league is a very hard practice. If you really want to get very good players at those positions you have to bite the bullet and draft them. As you can clearly see, teams to do not let good tackles hit the market.

We are blessed right now a Pro Bowl LT and a very good RT with the potential to be a Pro Bowler.

best in the NFL
one tremendous start & now for the middle
we need a FranchiseCenter to complete the OffensiveLine

Man, I love this. We go from worst O-Line in the league 2 years ago ( 20 something sacks in like 3 games? ) from one of, if not THE best, if we can get Jason Brown. I'm living a dream ..

well,if the Ravens do resign Jason Brown, then there's a good chance we'll get our Franchise Center in this upcoming draft...

Carolina is up there . . . and if Detroit is smart and drafts a guy like Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe . . . they will be up there as well.

Dolphins had one of the best tandems last year . . . . we just had real bad interior line play . . . which at times effected both Jake and Vernon. If u bring a guy like Jason Brown in the middle, and have 3 solid guards with Smiley, Satele and Thomas . . . u are talking about probably the best line in the league.

absolutely 33, Center will be the priority in the draft if we fall short with Brown
Center & NT,as well as, CB, WR, all on the radar in 09

agree w/FriendKdawg954 :
however, we're fixed @ Guard. its the Center that is the center of controversy.:rolleyes2:

"IF" Jake continues to get better, I'd say we're top 10, but I don't think Carey is or can be elite. I think he's a very good RT, but not elite.

In 2009 Carey will be an Elite RT because of the upgrades we'll add to the game & remember we played most of the season w/o our starting Guards. I believe the line will come together with improvement @ Center & the BookEnds will have banner year.

This might be true but the way his played LT in 2007, I would have said he was an elite OT. If Carey can keep his weight under control, I think he can return to that level of play. It would also help to have some stability next to him every year.

I think to be considered elite, you have to be one of the best in the game no matter who plays next to you. Carey gave up 4.5 sacks last year from the right side. Now that's not a terrible number, but he didn't dominate his position either. He's never been to a problwo on either side and he's been in the NFL sice 04. I think he's a very good T, but not elite. Maybe with another year under this system he picks it up, we'll have to wait and see, but as it stands now, I don't think we have a top five tandom, maybe top 9 or 10.

wow, if you guys think this much of our oline then we shouldnt have these draft another oline in round one discussions, actually the only olinemen that i am interested in is rt/rg Michael Oher and center David Washington.

isaw where miami ranked dead last in receiving yards and stoping the young but we were around 18 th or 19th in most other areas . I cant remember the link or i would post it. I think our oline is probally around 13 th or 14th but i cant post that link now. if i find it i will post it.
I am more cuious as to where our running game and our secodary ranks.

FriendFeelThePain:
Carey is certainly no ConcertPianist playing in a RockBand:rimshot: but the guy is an excellent RT & the interior line was horrendous for most of the season.
I believe the PanckeMonster has the potential to play @ an Elite level if the interior line improves accordingly. I have a lot of respect for Carey & think this contract & coaching staff will bring the absolute best out in him. :D
