One thing always stands out to me at the Pro Bowl: The players SOUND smart, during the sideline interviews. Yeah, someone could snarkily provide an exception but that's worthless. I can remember Tiger Woods snap hooking a drive that went 70 yards into a tree at #2 at Augusta.
The interview process is underrated in NFL scouting. Whenever we draft someone who is inarticulate and has trouble with basic media questions I cringe and estimate he'll far short of expectation, and it rarely fails. Listening to Manning and Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne reminded me of early to mid '70s, and how intelligent and thoughtful our core players were.
