Official 2014 Draft Thread (Round 4-7)

With the ammo the jets had its hard to say they didn't completely blow this draft.

All those picks, what did they do?

It just got worse for the Jets.

Where the **** is Taji Boyd at his own draft party? Is he in the bathroom? LOL.

Lots of guys have fallen in this draft. Wonder what the background checks revealed.

Antonio Richardson OT Tennessee - don't like him for us, he's not a fit but I remember people in the draft forum saying he should be our 1st round pick
Anthony Johnson DT LSU - A bit undersized but a good DT
Deandre Coleman DT Cal - Another DT who's a pretty big body
Seantrel Henderson OT Miami - I said I wouldn't draft this guy. Positive drug test at combine, suspensions at Miami, doesn't have a passion for the game
Rashaad Reynolds CB Oregon State - Instinctive corner but lacks deep speed
Adrian Hubbard OLB Alabama - OLB in a 3-4 not a very good at getting to the QB average athleticism
Christian Jones MLB FSU - Physical tackler but not very fast and ok instincts

I've watched a lot of Florida games over the last few years, I'm biased here but think Loucheiz Purifoy would be great value in the 7th here. There's obviously off the field stuff, and last year was not his best, but it wasn't for a lot of players at UF. The guy was an impact player for the Gators before that and has talent. Probably not the character though that Philbin would approve to be drafted, although having said that we did draft a guy kicked out of his college at the same position.

Trevor Reilly is a high character kid. Has a family. Knee issues and is older. I like him.

Forget it…Jets literally just took him.

Terrence Fede from Marist College.

Man a lot of small schools, the scouts really want to show off their skills?

This draft is dangerously reminiscent of former Jaguars GM Gene Smith's drafts in 2010 & 2011. In 2010 he reached in the first round at pick #10 for Tyson Alualu & then went on a small school run with his next five picks. None of which worked out. Then in 2011 he reached again with the #10 pick for Blaine Gabbert & finished out that draft with four small school players of which only Cecil Shorts has worked out. This philosophy doesn't work.

This draft "works" if James comes in and is a quality starter at RT, Billy Turner becomes solid inside at LG and Landry emerges as a nice receiving threat. Mix in one more draft pick or UDFA and the draft is a success.

I agree it may "work" but that's way to many gambles. Not a fan of this draft. Reaching in the first, six developmental picks, & a slow receiver (who I actually like). Our draft grade will be amongst the worst.
