Official: Feeley sucks.

AJ didn't have the pocket presence he needs, but he did make some nice throws. Most of his completions went over 10 yards in the air and were nicely placed. There really is no excuse for Thompson not making that catch, I believe he should be shipped out of here for a continuation of his two years of horrible play minus one great catch.

Feeley's performance.

Play:

  1. Ogunleye offsides and sacks Feeley. No play.
  2. very nice pass to Marty Booker coming back to the ball. 20yds in the air. accurate. appears to only have looked to Booker.
  3. Handoff to Gordon
  4. Handoff to Gordon
  5. Shotgun 3rd-7. Very nice pass down the middle to DT who drops the pass. 30yds in the air. Just a hair high, and a slight wobble in the spiral but very easily catchable. Feeley appeared to look only to Thompson...too bad, because Chambers had beaten his man (21) and would have had a TD. Booker had about 5 yards on his guy too.
  6. Phins punt, Chicago drives the field and scores.
  7. Feeley under Center, good protection from the line, pass hits Marty Booker on the move. 20 yds in the air...gain of 16. Again a very well thrown ball. Very good velocity, much tighter spiral. Slight playaction move and Feeley looked for an instant to the center of the field before firing to Booker on the left side. nobody else appeared to be open.
  8. Handoff to Williams
  9. Feeley under Center. Incomplete pass intended for Chambers. bad decision as Chambers appeared to be doubled. Feeley stared a hole through Chambers jersey before throwing. Looked like the WR on the right was open. Might have been Bryan Gilmore.
  10. Shotgun. Corner blitz not picked up and Nathan Vasher comes through untouched. Feeley throws the ball into the Line (looked like it hit Carey)
  11. Phins punt, Bears drive and punt.
  12. Feeley under Center. Decent protection. Short out to Donald Lee. Ball has nice touch. Placed well. Feeley appeared to be staring more to the center of the Field before coming back to Lee.
  13. Handoff to Williams
  14. Shotgun. Swing pass to Ricky Williams in the flat. Nice touch. Feely looked to his WR and/or TE on the right before looking over to Ricky. Well placed ball.
  15. Phins punt, Bears drive and punt.
  16. Feeley under Center. Drops back. Looks only to the right before getting hammered by Urlacher.
  17. Feeley's day is over.
Feeley really didnt do bad. Very accurate throws and he is developing a nice touch on the shorter balls. he still stares down his receiver...especially on the deep ball, but he seems to check off on the shorter stuff. At least he doesnt do it ALL the time now.
Gus played better tonight, but Feeley really doesnt have anything to be ashamed of.

We need to Copy and paste your post all over this board until people start to become rational again. Which will most likely happen around friday or before the next game on Sat.

I just thank God that the opinion of this board has no effect on saban. I'm sure the staff will analyze the same stuff that some of us have and realize that while Frerotte was better tonight, Feely wasn't horrible and in fact did a decent job.

It would be kinda funny though if the coaches were sitting around, drinking, and saying "AJ sucks. There's no way we're gonna win any games at all this year."

Like the throw to your right guard's fat back?

Read the post. He threw into the line because nobody picked up vasher. It was that or take a 7-8 yd sack. The play could have been called for illegal touching but wasnt. And Im pretty sure he hit 72, Vernon Carey LT.

Well done Yankee.

On a completely unrelated note, if Berlin keeps that stuff up...Sayoonara Sage

Thanks Yankeehillbilly. I was working and missed the game. With all the negative stuff I was reading you'd think we stunk up the joint. Thanks for brining sanity back to my world.

And Wes Welker is actually bigger than RW.

Seriously though.. Feeley looks like a skinny immobile rock in the pocket. He locks down on his recievers and doesn't check down often enough..

Memo to AJ Feeley: STEP UP IN THE POCKET. You can try a sidestep or two if you want to be brave.

Random thought of the day: AJ Feeley needs an cement butt implant and hightops.

I now this is only the first preseason game guys and it IS August but still, I didn't see one shade of improvement (IN AJ) from last year.

:ri:

I thought he did okay, you can tell he is not as comfortable as Gus. He threw a few ropes, one that DT dropped. I think he does not to look at his WR's quicker.

If you are referring to the play he went out, he did step up, right into Urlacher. Feeley played alright, threw 7 passes, completed 4, should have been 5 had Dt not dropped the 3rd down pass.\

Now, Frerrotte is definitely ahead in the comp. Stat wise isnt why, tho Gus had good stats. You can tell Gus was more comfortable in teh pocket, more fluid, his avoidance of teh rush impressed me. The bomb to CC reallly got my notice, not that it was a great throw, rather the way he avoided teh rush without taking his eyes off downfield.

I will admit AJ will have to show better pocket awareness and more cool under pressure. I am not a Gus fan, but will admit right now, it seems Gus may be better prepared and more comfortable to lead this team.

OK..I'm in the middle of "Tuesday Night Football" and I didn't think Feeley did all that bad. He had some good throws. I'd like to see more out of our running game and some better pass protection. Frerotte hasn't thrown his TD yet...lots more game for me to watch.

I don't base my thoughts or opinions on one game, but in this game I thought Frerotte was more impressive.

We'll see how it unfolds.

I don't know what game you were watching. I saw him throw some darts with accuracy. I saw DT let a catchable pass slip through his hands. He was 4 of 7, but should have been 5 of 7.
I guess by immobile you mean when he stepped up into the pocket to avoid the DE who had beaten Carey, and then he was sacked hard by a blitzing Urlacher up the middle (who came in untouched). You are so biased against the guy, it's not even funny.
I thought both QB's looked solid.

I thought Gus did slightly better but it was only because of his knowledge of the offense.
when AJ has more experience, he'll be much better than Gus.

The only thing that sucked, is the first post in this thread.
