Official: Feeley sucks.

Wait, my bad, there are quite a few posts in this thread that suck.....and they're from people who haven't got a CLUE as to what they are talking about.

Yes, if you thought AJ sucked, I'm talking about you.
Some people are going to pick through things and only find the negatives; no matter what. 7 attempts/4 completions. 2 passes were dropped that shouldn't have been. If they hold onto the ball then it becomes 6/7. No TDs; but no INTs, either. Feeley threw the ball away when he had to; he didn't throw the pick. I think alot of people are setting expectations way too high after only a week and a half of practice.

Is it me or does AJ get hurt everytime he's touched? Buttocks Contusion!?come on... :shakeno:

Would you rather him throw the ball and get intercepted?

No I would have rathered him throw to the wide open guy (the TE I believe?) down the middle of the field who had his defender beat. Either that or throw to you checkdown, saftey valve. SCAN THE FIELD!

It's called leading the receiver AJ-[(football 101) not directed at you Byroan]

Ok, you can't

You are knocking AJ, when Gus is doing the very samething & he has many years of experience on his side. Biased are we?

IMO if you take into account Gus experience & experience with the offense then he was far worse than AJ.

I don't need to provide examples or even be biased for that matter- It's football not politics. I know what I saw and I don't need to recollect and recant every play in which Feeley struggled because it's not about individual instances.. it's about all around composure and instinct.

I think you're a blind homer. Sorry, bud.

And Wes Welker is actually bigger than RW.

Seriously though.. Feeley looks like a skinny immobile rock in the pocket. He locks down on his recievers and doesn't check down often enough..

Memo to AJ Feeley: STEP UP IN THE POCKET. You can try a sidestep or two if you want to be brave.

Random thought of the day: AJ Feeley needs an cement butt implant and hightops.

I now this is only the first preseason game guys and it IS August but still, I didn't see one shade of improvement (IN AJ) from last year.

:ri:

 Oh no, here we go. :shakeno:

He did throw to the wide open WR, and it was DROPPED.

Seriously dude, did you watch the game?

Feeley's performance.

Play:

  1. Ogunleye offsides and sacks Feeley. No play.
  2. very nice pass to Marty Booker coming back to the ball. 20yds in the air. accurate. appears to only have looked to Booker.
  3. Handoff to Gordon
  4. Handoff to Gordon
  5. Shotgun 3rd-7. Very nice pass down the middle to DT who drops the pass. 30yds in the air. Just a hair high, and a slight wobble in the spiral but very easily catchable. Feeley appeared to look only to Thompson...too bad, because Chambers had beaten his man (21) and would have had a TD. Booker had about 5 yards on his guy too.
  6. Phins punt, Chicago drives the field and scores.
  7. Feeley under Center, good protection from the line, pass hits Marty Booker on the move. 20 yds in the air...gain of 16. Again a very well thrown ball. Very good velocity, much tighter spiral. Slight playaction move and Feeley looked for an instant to the center of the field before firing to Booker on the left side. nobody else appeared to be open.
  8. Handoff to Williams
  9. Feeley under Center. Incomplete pass intended for Chambers. bad decision as Chambers appeared to be doubled. Feeley stared a hole through Chambers jersey before throwing. Looked like the WR on the right was open. Might have been Bryan Gilmore.
  10. Shotgun. Corner blitz not picked up and Nathan Vasher comes through untouched. Feeley throws the ball into the Line (looked like it hit Carey)
  11. Phins punt, Bears drive and punt.
  12. Feeley under Center. Decent protection. Short out to Donald Lee. Ball has nice touch. Placed well. Feeley appeared to be staring more to the center of the Field before coming back to Lee.
  13. Handoff to Williams
  14. Shotgun. Swing pass to Ricky Williams in the flat. Nice touch. Feely looked to his WR and/or TE on the right before looking over to Ricky. Well placed ball.
  15. Phins punt, Bears drive and punt.
  16. Feeley under Center. Drops back. Looks only to the right before getting hammered by Urlacher.
  17. Feeley's day is over.
Feeley really didnt do bad. Very accurate throws and he is developing a nice touch on the shorter balls. he still stares down his receiver...especially on the deep ball, but he seems to check off on the shorter stuff. At least he doesnt do it ALL the time now.
Gus played better tonight, but Feeley really doesnt have anything to be ashamed of.

Excellent post Yankee....you did'nt take those notes on the fly did you?

I am changing my note taking strategy this year but I sure the hell could'nt see myself being able to be that specific....good job though.

I totally agree with your analysis. I noticed some nicer touch on the short stuff. Last year he would throw these Elwayesque rockets to guys 2 yards away. Last night he was putting players in a spot to catch the ball and run with it.

On play #2 I gave Feeley a plus on the throw. It was crisp and on the money. No he did'nt look anywhere else but he did'nt have to.

On play #5 I gave Feeley a plus. It was a good throw. I know other WR were open but, that happens to every Q.B. Thompson HAS to make that play.

On play #9 I gave Feeley a minus. In my opinion it was his only minus play of the night. He threw it low and it was a wasted play. Chambers was covered and he had no business trying to complete that pass.

On play #10 (the corner blitz) I gave Feeley a plus for that play. He knew the play was done so he threw it away....to a safe spot. Last year he may have heaved it up there and hoped.

All in all I think A.J. had a decent night. I gave him four plus plays and one minus plays. I was really impressed with his mid-deep throws. The deep comeback route to Booker was as good a pass as a guy can throw.

BTW anyone trying to convice me otherwise about AJ Feeley is just wasting their time because I know the game of football and I know a good QB when I see one.

I'm generally an open minded person but when I'm right, I'm right.

:ri:

yeah, you're 23, years of vast knowledge

give it a rest hater. :shakeno:

I know it was only the first preseason game but Gus looked so much more poised than Feeley. Yes he's been in the system longer blah, blah, blah but there was such a difference I can't believe that they're being rated so closely. Frerotte clearly has to have the edge. Rosenfels has been in this system as long a Feeley and he also looked much more comfortable. Berlin too. Geez. We'll have to see if Frerotte is as jumpy starting against Jax as Feeley was last night. From what everybody saw last night, I don't see that happening.

It might be pre-season, but I still see Feeley making the same mistakes he did last year which have been pointed out here ad-nausem (pocket poise, locking on to receivers etc.). The logical explanation is that AJ is still green and needs more experience. The question is does Saban want to give Feeley experience this year or does he want veteran Ferotte?. At which point do you give up on AJ?. Personally, I'd like to see Ferotte out there, I think starting AJ will mean another losing season.

even though it's preseason Feeley still shows all the bad habits he had last year
