Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

St. Louis Rams @ Miami Dolphins

Thursday August 28th 7:00PM Edt

2nd team defense should get some good work in this one because I think the 1st team offense for the Rams may play longer than usual to try to get Shaun Hill ready for the season.

Also, surprised no one has said anything on the board but it was Jake Long that gave up the hit that got Sam Bradford taken out for the season. While last year was a struggle (putting it lightly there) I think Albert is a huge upgrade over Long who seems to be continuing his downward trend.

I think there were a number of posters who brought this up right after it happened. Don't know what thread it was though...

I'm excited to see mccain, tripp, jenkins, davis, and Taylor going against the rams one's if that's what they do.

Is there a place to listen to the game online? I've tried several of the local radio stations with no luck..

i can't tell you how much i enjoy watching our youngsters play in these games (some prior to injury). jordan tripp, terence fede, walt aikens, chris mccain, anthony johnson, will davis, jamar taylor, gator hoskins, jarvis landry, ju'juan james, billy turner, damien williams, etc. etc.

mucho enjoyment there.

Don't know a good place to put this but:

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 2h
To @EllisD525 when Zach Thomas comes to Dolphins facility, watches Jordan Tripp play and says "yeah, Tripp looks like me....." I'll believe.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 2h
To @EllisD525 nah....I'm lying. No I won't. No difference between Jordan Tripp and AJ Edds right now. And Edds might be stronger.

Looks like Omar doesn't like Tripp much...he's been dogging him for a while. I can't compare Tripp to Edds because I think Edds tore his ACL before he ever played in a preseason game and was released in camp the following season IIRC.

No surprise he doesn't like Tripp...none at all. You don't have to look very far to figure out why either.

Just for comparison I looked up Edds's and Tripp's combine numbers

Edds
40-yard - 4.62
10-yard - 1.60
Vertical - 33"
Broad Jump - 9' 9"
20-yard shuttle - 4.28
3-cone - 7.19
225 reps - 16

Tripp
40-yard - 4.62
10-yard - 1.61
Vertical - 37.5"
Broad Jump - 10' 0"
20-yard shuttle - 3.96
3-cone - 6.89
225 reps - 22

Athletically they're very similar. Tripp a little more explosive with better change of direction. It's way too early to say either way on Tripp but I have noticed he's around the ball a lot but he does have issues getting off blocks. Once an O-lineman locks up on him he's done. He seems to have better awareness than most of our linebackers but that's really not saying much. We'll see how he progresses but linebacker and OG are top two on my list for next years draft.

I understand this game will probably have no starters or only a handful at most(some of the starting offensive lineman could play imo), but I am genuinely looking forward to this game. We get to see extended action of young guys who will make the 53 and who could become more important pieces in future years. Should be fun to see some of the battles for the final few spots on the team.

I also think the play of some players like Marcus Thigpen could determine if Miami is able to swing a trade or two tomorrow.

Any idea if 1st team will play at all? Can't remember if we usually sit them in the last preseason game.

Tried to find Zachs combine numbers but wasnt able to easily just out of curiosity.

Zach had instincts and was a film rat. He also had the rep that if someone could get there hands on him, he was out. But Zach was one step ahead most times. It took probowlers like Mawai to get to him.

So If Tripp just busts his butt. stays healthy and studies hard, he will pass the test.

I know Thomas was considered slow and small coming into the league. Of the two, I'm sure Tripp had better combine numbers, but Zach make up for it in his instincts and knack of being around the ball. If you Google the definition of a sideline to sideline defender, Thomas' picture should appear. Tripp has showed that he has the ability to be around the ball, just needs to adjust to the NFL level of physicality.
