Official I Like Our Backup Thread

Sure the timing is conveinent because I just saw him cartwheel into the endzone, but I have been thinking this all offseason. I've heard cries for Micheal Bennett and Chirs Brown, and sure depth never hurt, but I like the way this guy runs. Plus I sure his contract is lot more cap friendly, than those guys. I would never want him as my starter, but he is a good change of pace and runs hard, right at you. Maybe its the fullback mentalilty, but I like it. Not to mention, they said he lead the team in special team tackles last season. Now that I posted this I'm sure he'll fumble, but what do you think?

I'm happy with him as a backup. The problem comes if he has to be a full time starter for any length of time. As you said in your post you wouldn't want him as a starter. People who are calling for a trade are thinking of having a starting caliber running back for the back up position. Unlike last year when we had Ricky and Ronnie that's just not going to happen. Sammy will be a great back up for us. If Ronnie goes down Sammy will be good but not great. That's life in the NFL.

I think if we did have to have Daunte sit the first couple of games, we would be able to go 3-1 in the first 4 games.
