Official Mia/Hou Joint Practice 1 Thread.

He was figured out late in the year. Take away the middle of the field and force him to throw to the outside. He doesn’t have the arm to get the ball outside on time.

The ball hangs in the air and allows DBs to jump the routes.
You were figured out long before that.

The guy threw 8 picks in 400 attempts last season - including 3 of them after he was concussed against the Packers.

And you’re worrying about a pick-6 on the last play of practice?

I think y’all are losing the context of the offense a little bit here though sure the numbers look good there but it’s all motion based coverage ids.

Miami uses more motion in its offense than any other team in the league. Why is that? Is it cause tua struggles to make proper reads in non motion based sets or is it cause mcds system is designed to make it easy for the qb? I know it’s the latter I don’t know about the former….yet

I guess I’d just say be careful with numbers in a vacuum they lack context. All motion based coverage ids are a luxury for a qb.

In addition most of Miamis motion players are the actual pre to post snap primary. When we get to where the motion guy isn’t where the ball is designed to go all the time relative to the coverage played that’s when your qb is gonna be showing some field read developments.

3 pick sixes in joint practices vs the Texans and Falcons, both teams with below average defenses. People will say it’s just practice but this is Tua’s 4th year in the league and 2nd in the offense and the reports have suggested he’s regressing. Now the south Florida media sucks, I get that, but it’s still very concerning to hear he’s struggling regardless.

I understand where you’re coming from here.

There are others here who are not analyzing the situation. They‘re using practice interceptions as evidence that Tua sucks (according to them). It’s laughably ridiculous.

Yeah gotta admit that's a bad read for sure. This one's definitely on Tua, he just missed the defender.

He made a non motion based pre snap read tried to look it off to the other side post snap and was going there the entire way. That is the definition of a coverage misread and while it’s nice you are trying to look off guys no motion based ids and you completely read it wrong which is how it goes from a maybe int to a pick 6 in that space.

It’s just another pre snap read and decision with no post snap verification and a wrong coverage read

And when you read lbs dropping and undercutting things for ints that cause they are zone dropping and flowing right to his eyes pre to post snap.

If your game is all about process that can’t keep happening
