I could be wrong, and I would rather see Huntely, too, but the way 13Marino13 described the situation, it must be a rule that prevents us from playing Huntley first if Thompson goes down. I
It is the rule. The 3 or emergency QB can only enter if both 1 and 2 are injured. If either 1 or 2 are cleared to return the they must also go back in the game.

But it is Miami's choice. On who is the #2. They also could have just dress all 3, but that would cost another roster spot.

Also the more I think about it, can we even designate Huntley as an emergency QB. Doesn't he have to be on the active 53 since we claimed him of Baltimore PS.

I realize that was "tongue in cheek", but do you really disagree with putting Tua on IR given the circumstances?

I don't.

It sucks from the POV that he, obviously, gives us a better chance of winning games but from a PR and optics perspective, I don't know that they had much real choice.
it's hard for me to have a real opinion because I think Mike is more worried about perception than anything else.....first time Tua had one he came back quick and people were saying that Mike didn’t care and I think now he has a mental block....I'm not sure Mike can actually make the right decision now cause he's worried about what people will say. I'm also pretty sure mike didn’t make the decision alone so there's that buyt he's been babying these players since day one and I think that's one reason why the team hasn’t been ready to play the first two weeks.

Today will tell me/us a lot about Mike. I'm hoping he has the team ready for this one but we'll see.

To me, it feels like the leadership of this team took the easy way out by putting Tua on IR. They didn’t want to be asked the same questions over and over. They wanted the media focus off of Tua. It was a chickenshit move.

Ya but the more I think about it, I believe Huntley has to be active not an emergency QB. As in since claimed of a PS he has to be part of the 53 man roster (not emergency QB), if he us not Baltimore has the right to claim him back to their PS.

I think we are just carrying 3 active QBs, not an emergency QB. So Huntley could actually enter and exit at any time.

I may be wrong but I believe that to be correct.

Yes, Huntley has to be on the 53 since we pulled him from another team's practice squad.

I don't know that Huntley will be ready to go as QB2 given he's been here a week and they spent one day on a cross country flight. Also assume that Thompson was pretty much taking on the snaps this week.

ESPN depth charts I believe are just their assumptions.

Chargers look like. Different team with harbaugh. Ugh
I thought they would be wildcard team.

Willis has 72 yards rushing in the first quarter of the GB game. Rushing QBs can be useful. Huntley....come on down.
Skylar can run. But seems like he never does

Steelers look like the same team they always are. Good defense, horrendous offense. Somehow go 9-8 or 10-7 and get stomped in the first round of the playoffs.

I doubt he plays. I am just saying that I don't believe that the posters who believe he can't enter the game unless both Skylar and Boyle get hurt (emergency QB rule) are correct. The emergency QB is not actually part of the 53 man roster, he is an exception to the 53 man roster, who can only play in certain situations. Huntley I believe has to be on the actual 53 man roster.
