Official Miami Super Bowl Thread

i'll be celebrating in this thread with you guys on my new quantum computer

* First one against Dallas I didn't know what to expect. Played golf with my dad that morning. Everyone on the course was anticipating the game and talking about it during the round.

* The next year I was very nervous, given history at stake with 17-0. I wasn't exactly confident until early second quarter when I realized we were controlling the game and everything would take care of itself, despite the score still 0-0 at the time. That was one of the great feelings ever, when I sensed we were on the way. The rest of my family was still fretting every play but I had a great calm.

* Viking game set up as domination. I expected 300 yards rushing and was disappointed we didn't get there, in fact not even close after such a terrific start to the game.

* I was an idiot before the '82 season game. Woke up that morning thinking wow the Dolphins will soon be world champions again, after a long gap of 9 years. Nine years seemed considerable in those days. With Shula we had expected to win the title every third year or so on average. In 1987 once I learned about yards per attempt one of the first things I did was check the numbers heading into this game. I had a feeling I would be stunned at how stupid I was, the missed opportunity. Sure enough, Theismann averaged 8.1 during the season and Woodley barely 6.0. It should have been a tap out bet on Washington, the better team

* Against the 49ers I knew we would be mangled. Everything pointed that way, once we stopped running the ball against the Chargers late in the season. I had 49ers -1.5 and played considerably more at halftime, once the Dolphins were somehow favored. I'll never forget a Canadian guy nicknamed Super Dave pacing the sportsbook during the halftime, correctly saying out loud to anyone who would listen, "How can anyone watch that first half and not make the biggest bet of their life on San Francisco plus 4 points?" The 49ers showed great mercy in winning the second half only 10-0.

I hope to see another. A good start would be to implode our stadium.

I was 11 years old the last time the Dolphins won the Super Bowl. I really thought there would be many more, boy was I wrong. I hope I live to see another one.

We are about the same age.....and your right, it seemed like we would be in the big game on a regular basis. Time flies....doesn't it?
