**OFFICIAL PHINS VS. BEARS GAME THREAD**

I think both QB's played well.

A.J.'s passes looked sharp. Obviously didn't play much. Got a massive upper body hit by Urlacher but somehow injured his butt again.

Gus looks really sharp. some crisp passes and a TD pass. To be fair though, he's doing this against 2nd-3rd stringers. Hoping the starting o-line improves next week so we can see how he does against the D starters.

Starting O-line wasn't very good. I see A LOT of practice time with them.

The Good and the Bad from the first half:

The Good:

- Ferrotte looked good, nice touch
- Feeley looked bad, couldn't move the offense even with time from the o-line
- Boston looked good, no sign of the injury
- The offensive line pass blocked well

The Bad:

- The secondary looked pathetic
- Madison continues to get worse with age
- The D-line looked average at best
- Run blocking stunk

Why do you consider Feeley looking bad a good thing? Are you hoping he does poorly?

I concur.

Question ......who is our D.E. with the #71. The roster on nfl.com shows #71 being Damion Cook, who is an offensive guard.

Cook is wearing 76.

Middleton is wearing 71 as weel as someone on defense I think. Anyone else notice.

I didn't see any stellar play from anyone, except Madison.

I thought Feeley looked pretty good, considering. Remember, Gus got his yardage against the second team defense. Feeley looked really good on the first drive, but he had a ton of time.

I thought Daniels and Richard played fairly well. The line wasn't nearly prepared for all of the blitzing.

Lee was horrible for the most part. Gordon was dancing too much. However, none of the backs looked all that great, thanks to poor run blocking.

someone mentioned 2 players with #71 earlier

they do indeed have two at the moment

#71 Frank Middleton G

#71 Matt Walters DE

Shut up. Plain and simple, shut up.

Ferottes 143 yrds is a career game for Fiedler.
Jay had his chance, he sucked. Gus and AJ both will get their chance. When they have had it then we can pass judgement.

I thought all the Fiedler Huggers were extinct?
what? give me an effin break dude.

you have more hatred towards fiedler than i have praise for him. I'm just objective. I don't hate on people when its a team failure. I also won't give one guy credit when its someone else's.

Get off your damn horse. Just because a pass was thrown to NOT be picked off, DOES NOT MEAN its a good pass. that pass was not towards Gilmore, it was behind him. If you get off your "INT" horse, you'd figure out that the pass was behind and to the wrong side of Gilmore. That TD was ALL gilmore, stop trying to credit Frerotte with that.

Frerotte looked great, but he benefitted from what Saban learned from the game from Feeley's being in there... notice the more passing plays now and no running plays. Notice the 2nd string Bears D. Notice the lack of blitzes like we had to face with Feeley in there.

I'm just saying be objective and fair - stop being a freakin' frerotte homer.

Some of you guys need to remember that this is not only a preseason game, but the first preseason game for us. I'm very pleased with the way we've played in the first half. I think both QB's played well. Unfortunately, Feeley's time was cut short. I do believe Frerotte has played better. He should thank Boston and Gilmore. I'm really impressed with Boston so far. If we continue to bring him along slowly, he should give us a great #3 threat this season.

Our offensive line doesn't look good but it still looks better than last season. Our coaches need to have game tape to see what our players need to improve on. Just because we've looked good in training camp, doesn't mean we're going to look good in a real game. As the preseason goes on, I guarantee that we will all see improvement in the team.

I'm somewhat disappointed in our defense. I would have liked to have seen more pressure on the QB. We all know our secondary isn't the top of the league anymore. We need to get more pressure on the QB to help our secondary out. But again, I remind myself that this is just the first preseason game and I'm positive we'll improve. I also remind myself that there was hardly any gameplanning done, if there was any at all.

The biggest disappointment (like it's any surprise) to me was Donald Lee. He flat out sucks. I normally don't bash a guy like this but Lee has really stunk up the joint. I don't see him making the team. I was also disappointed in Derrius Thompson's first drop. I don't think he's had the ball thrown to him since then.

Not a bad analysis. I wouldn't say the secondary looked totally pathetic. We aren't disguising any coverages. It pretty simple coverages: Man to man mostly. WIth very little help from a pass rush.

I'm not really hoping he does poorly as much as I'm assuming he will. I feel more confident with someone with experience at the helm. I'd rather not watch Feeley "grow" with the new system.
