This is a spin off of WVdolphans thread. I also am tired of this offense that get's us no where lately. I loved it at first, but enough is enough, they gotta stop calling it so much. It would still be effective if the didn't run they dang play so much. How many agree?

I don't agree.

The offense has moved away from primarily the Wildcat, and it's a nice little part of the playbook that we have. I don't mind it at all.

I'm getting a bit fed up of the sweeps (especially with Ronnie... he is terrible on sweeps). The wildcat should stay though

I say we keep the wildcat running, but we need to put more twists in it. I want to see Ronnie throw the ball and cathc the defense off guard thinking we always run. Or we can run the same wildcat play we did on Houston where the ball goes back to Pennington and he throws. We just need to keep the wildcat as a multiple threat to keep the defense on their toes.

As for the sweeps, I too am getting frustrated. It seems that the defenses our cutting the corner quicker then our offense.

Well maybe I took it a little too far. Let’s rename the thread to The Official Stop the Wild Cat Offense Every Other Play thread then. But like I said, I think it would be a lot more effective if they didn’t run it so much

They really don't call it that often.... the same people that want it stopped would be crying that our offense lacks diversity if the take it out and we have some quiet games.. this is a nice wrinkle that will pay dividends every now and then.... chill

Um, they have ran it more than 70 times this year. They showed that during the game. Did you not see that? Well it showed 69 times but we did it at least 5 more times yesterday so Im just estimating.

Only problem I had was us coming out with it on our third drive right after the TD. We we're moving the ball fine with our base formations why come right out in the Wildcat? I'm not going to complain. We have 8 more wins then we had last year at this time. It's amazing.

i want to see Ronnie throw it or run LEFT. he usually runs up the middle or right when the left side would give him space. Wonder why he hasnt thrown it since.

i really think they are keeping some of it in their back pocket for a time of need. Tht is the only thing that makes sense. Make teams think that is all we got and BAM, there is something different when we need yards, momentum swing or points.

But it is hard to stop the way we been running it when we average 4 yds or so a play.

Every time I start to think it is useless...we get a first down with it...as long as that keeps up...I am fine with it.

Im ok with them running it 3-5 times a game that way other teams still have to ready for it and prepare. If they decide not to be ready for it Miami ends up taking the advantage on those plays. Now a days i look at it as a plot to make the other coach teach his team how to stop it which then gives them less time to prepare for our actual offense.

I am ok with it....but we have to use it selectively, and not try to force things like two consecutive wildcat runs up the middle yesterday that got us no yards. I would love us to throw out of the formation more. I think the Wildcat keeps defenses from blitzing us all the time.

It has lost almost all effectiveness recently. Teams seem to have a preety good idea of how to stop it and it seems that our run blocking while running the wildcat has also gotten worse.

the key is just adding more variations to it. if we can do that and keep defenses guessing, then we will continue to have success

Agreed. We need to diversify our play calling out of the Wildcat. We're running the ball way too much with Ronnie. We need to pass, throw in some reverses, put Ginn in the damn lineup! etc..
