I don't mean to start another bench Pennington thread, because I can't tell you how much I appreciate him helping to turn this franchise around, but I can pinpoint the moment when I officially want to throw Henne in as the starter...it came on Pat White's only throw of the game. Ted Ginn outran both defenders and would have had an easy six if the ball was even semi-accurate. That helped me visualize what this offense could do with someone who can throw the deep ball, and with Henne being more accurate than White, I say...why not start him?

Also guys, please remember, we began last season 0-2 and went on to win 11 games and the division title, so please wait at least a month before becoming all doom and gloom about our chances this year.

Let's start with the future today. Pennington doesn't scare anyone and NFL defenses aren't respecting the downfield play.

1) no garuntee Henne would have connected

2) not everything is deep passes. if the qb is planted before ginn gets far enough downfield b/c our tackle is on his arse than deep passes mean nothing.

our qb of the future did play today. That damn Pat white is so awesome much better than Sanchez. So glad we passed over Te's Wr , Ol and any other useful position to draft a speciality qb.

I'm not commenting on the start Henne/bench Pennington idea, but I do want to comment on White's pass. While I liked the aggressive playcall, I haven't seen White be the least bit accurate on throws like that. He was at least five yards off on every throw like that in an actual game.

White was way overrated by the offense he ran in college. Great college career but seems like the new Qb is just as accurate if not more so .

I'm not ready to hand it over to Henne just yet, especially going against the Colts next week. I have a good feeling Pennington will come back better next week, also lets not forget Fasano fumbled on two good looking drives that probably cost us the game.

At some point you have to get the defenses to play the whole field not just the 10-20 yards that the dolphins can only play with Pennington.

Henne can hit on a few more throws than Pennington can but he will make many many more mistakes and take more sacks as well. Would you rather have more big plays on offense but on the good AND bad side?

seriously if any of you think that pat white or chad henne are ready to lead an nfl offense than you are sadly mistaken.

Yes, if you start Henne, we will have more mistakes and more sacks. HELLO, 4 turnovers, 4 sacks, and shut out for 3 quarters. Think it can't get worse than what we had today.

Two of those were caused by the tight end- not the QB. It does get much worse. We had atrocious line play today. How many QB's over recent years committed 2, 3, and 4 turnovers in one game without the opposing defense in his face every play?

Pennington had a bad day, but that bad day started with the atrocious o-line play in the first half. The good drives Pennington had got derailed by Fasano's fumbles, and stupid penalties.

If you don't think that Chad Henne could get much worse, you must not have watched the TB game.

If it wasn't for the Colts having Peyton Manning, I'd feel good about our chances. It all comes down to whether or not our pass defense can keep their offense from hogging time of possesion- our offense is not going to play well if they don't get the ball in their hands enough and playing from behind the entire game.

Pat White is at least 2 years away from given a chance of starting. He needs to get up to NFL speed and learn all the nuances of being a QB in the NFL.
I think Henne or another player will eventually be the starter in Miami after the Pennington reign is over. Pat White is more of a situational player.
I want Miami to get away from the gimickry and run a power offense.
