Man, I have so much respect for ricky williams. he is a gu that has faced more presonal and mental turmoil than many of us could imagine. I mean cmon, the guy severely battled anxiety disrder while winning the Heisman and being thrown into the public eye. to many of us, who refuse to be reflexive and step into rickys shoes, we have said that he shoukd suck it up, that he makes a lot of money, that hes famous, and blah lah blah. well these thinsg are all nice sounding to us, but o ricky williams, these things have divided him and puzzled him his whole career. the guy has done what many of s struggle to do, learn from his mistakes..and ricky came back from his past drug offenses a changed man. simply in the sense that he is focused on being a good person, hes focused on the present. how many of us dwell too much on the past, worry too much about the future, then realize we are letting life slip past us, or that we arnt who we really want to be. this has been made rickys focus, he knows the money and the fame arnt impprtant...hes seeking to be a happy person, thats very admirable...especially when hes thrown into the money hungry business of the nfl.
To all you ricky haters..all the people that are hypocrites and call him a drugee..your arguments are so narrow minded and ignorant it amazes me. There are players punching eachother on the field, T.O ruining teams and demanding outrageous sums of money, people like jamal lewis who have been accused of DEALING cocaine...all of this, and even PHINS fans only bash and ridicule ricky because he happens to be different.because he comes on tv and talks about mental well being instead of all the greedy cliches we see from al the players. essentially, ricky williams is a dream player for any team. hes smart, hes had good experiences and bad, learned from the bad, and he is a hard working, high class individual...al the things we always talk about these players lacking.
I see the same ricky bashers demand for T.O. Saying that all of his outrageous behavior is ok because he can be a great wde reciever...yet you throw ricky in the flames bc hes somewhat expendable...and use the excuse that hes a 'drugee' and a 'weird' dude. you guys should all be ASHAMED of yourselves. You contradict yourselves and give the feeling that the only thing you care about is a dolphins championship...well i care about that to, but i also care about our players..and just like i dnt want the TO's to come ti miami, I also dont want someone as valuable and inspiring as ricky williams to leave.
Ricky williams is a confused person, but unlike many of us who live in denial of our true desires and feelings, ricky williams put it out in the open, worked to fix himself, and came back with a furry.....thats a man who withstands adeversity...thats a man whose not afraid to look deep inside of himself. In times when we are all encouraged to follow these social norms that constrict us, ricky williams has stood oustide the box and told us thats just who he is..all while being an EXCELLENT football player, a great leader (see ronnies comments) and a humbled individual.
This failed test is bogus, he missed a test bc hes subject to many, anything could have happened. and instead of me coming on this board and seeing my fellow fin fans going nuts for an appeal, all of you have thrown ricky to the garbage..its sickening, disloyal, connaving, and shows a lot of your true colors..
Ricky is innocent, he will come back, sometime....and make all you non believers believe in him again, just like he did this past season....:dolphins:
