It's looking more and more like Drew Brees may become available and that he can be signed without giving up picks. I know he's coming off an injury, but assuming he fully recovers that would be a great start to the offseason. I don't know much about McCown other than he's young and about 6-4. Is he worth getting, if the Dolphins miss on Brees? I'd forget any of the qb's that Miami would have to give up picks to get. If anything, they need additional picks for this draft as the talent runs deeper than I can remember in a long time. There should be quality players well into the 4th round.

I look for Saban to spend his free agent money on the offense, much like he did with the defense a year ago. A couple of offensive linemen and Brees would allow the Dolphins to concentrate on defense in the draft. Saban has stated that getting younger on defense is one of his priorities and that makes sense.

The draft as of now (no trades) and w/the above assumptions on offense:
1. Lawson OLB, North Carolina (a perfect fit as a 3-4 rush linebacker)
2. Griffin DB, Texas (big, physical and versatile)
3. Watkins S, Florida St. (ballhawking safety)
4. Jackson, NT, Auburn (Run stuffer)
7. BPA
7. BPA
7. BPA

We've already started the off season on a sour note. RIcky Williams IMO was a big part of this football team. Losing him hurts big time

We'll be fine...Ronnie will break out next year, and you all will be saying "Ricky Who?" after the first preseason game.

I was hoping to get a high pick for him. We all knew he wasn't going to be around much more than a year or so anyway.

I agree. Ricky never was a long-term solution anyway, although his news is certainly a disappointment.

It doesn't matter. Ronnie is THE real deal.

True. In fact, I think Ronnie Brown wins the offensive Rookie of the Year if Ricky wasn't here. I enjoyed watching Ricky play and that's what it's really all about. But this will give someone else (KJ Harris maybe) an opportunity. Fact remains, no one expected Williams to play much longer anyway.

The biggest disappointment about the Ricky Williams situation is the total loss on the investment we had in him. I know Wanny didn't have much luck with 1st round draft picks but to lose two on Ricky is like throwing away investment for the future. Rather than take it as a total loss it would have been nice to have recouped something, anything! I am just thankful Saban had the forsight to pick Ronnie Brown, even if he knew Ricky was coming back.

Newsflash to the delusional... we werent getting more than a 4th pick anyways

It's not that bad because you can look at it as Ricky saved Ronnie another year of his career, so that's another year with a first round pick playing. Plus Saban was trying to trade him anyway, so I'm sure he and staff have set up a plan to address life without Ricky. The guy doesn't miss a single detail, so you know he's prepared for this to come out any way. Plus Ronnie got a fat $20 million signing bonus last year, so now he can work off some of that money. Look at his stats when he got limited carries:

v. Buffalo - 17 att 97 yds
v. KC - 8 att 95yds
v. ATL 12 att 67 yds
v. NE 14 att 64 yds
v. CLE 12 att 56 yds
v. OAK 15 att 58 yds

If this guy had been getting 20 carries a game he would've easily won the ROY. The running game is in good hands.

I love how this turned into a Ricky thread like all the others.

In response to the actual post, I think your mock draft is too defense-inclined. I know Saban said he wants to get younger and I agree with that notion but we are in dire need of offensive linemen and a wide receiver. Unless we address both positions AND quarterback in free agency, that's something to look out for in the draft.

DUDE everyone is blowing this ricky deal up..... dude he can appeal, he may get outta this with no suspension or anything.... he may even get an apology his way......... soooo drop it, lets wait for the real facts, and lets wait till the deal ends and we see what were left with...

I agree with you on Ol and Brees. I dont like mccown. but yes on the draft

I support Ricky for whatever he does...I hope he appeals and wins.
But I'm not going to be like O NOES 4-12 RECORD :boohoo: if he does leave.
