ok, first of all I am not giving up on the season, not at all. This is the first year I actually don't yell or break things. I am sitting back and enjoying watching our team transform into something better. Which I truely believe is happening. I expect us to pick up 1 or 2 big free agents this offseason, we finally have the cap money we have been waiting for. I hope/expect those signings to be young players and we sign them long term... this is what I hope at least. Anyway thse are our needs in priority order:

1. QB: obviously we need a starting qb. We don't know what we have in Lemon, he could turn out to be our starter next year, but regardless we draft one and we have two young guys battling it out. My guess is we keep sage and cut gus, but that probably won't be decided until sage gets some starts which is coming soon. Either gus or sage will be cut.

2. CB: wow we need some secondary help at both corner and safety. I truely beleive madison will be released in the offseason. Between his penalties, his lack of interceptions, and his adversion to contact/tackling I just don't see him coming back.

3. LT: Our offensive line is 10x better than it has been in the recent past. But I still believe we need a stud left tackle.

4. WR: We need some young talent at the wide receiver position without a doubt. I am not sure how much a new WR would contribute in his first season but we need one badly. I guess this depends if we got someone via FA or the draft.

5. Safety: We actually have needs at both safety positions, we need to draft someone that will contribute right away. A good safety can be had in the later rounds.

Those are our most pressing needs, I wouldn't be surprised if we also drafted a linebacker and someone on the defensive line.

Its impossible to predict free agency so I won't, we just won't know who gets franchised or signed by there own team, so this would be my draft strategy assuming we don't pick up any free agents.

With our first pick on the draft I hope we get our stud LT, if that doesn't happen expect us to pick our new starting right cornerback. In round 2, if we select a LT in rd 1, I expect a cornerback to be selected here. Round three I wouldn't be surprised to see a QB selected here.

any thoughts?

I'd maybe add centre to the list as well although mckinney has been much improved this year i still see it as a postion we can easily upgrade with a 3rd or 4th rounder or hopefully lecharles bentley (probably gets tag but we can hope!). I would rank the priorities like this;

1. Qb - Frerotte has been 1 step shy of a full blown disaster as the starter and we need to upgrade, i wouldn't neccesarily cut frerotte as he knows the system and probably isn't the worst backup ever, i won't speculate with names as i don't fancy another brees, rivers, leinart, young etc thread

2. Cb - with poole back and daniels improving i agree there is a fair chance we don't see madison back

3. SS - Shulters has been a decent pickup at FS we could probably use some more range in the secondary to aid the inexperienced corners

LT probably is still a need but i'd like to see how much this line can improve the 2nd half of the season

QB- Stop getting these journeymen. Gus has been on like 10 teams or some ****. Let's not win now and build to win for the future. We're winning now (if you can call it that) at the expense of the future. Sounds weird, but it's true.

T, G, C- We need a real line.

WR- Anyone who can run a route would do and hold on the ball will due.

LB- Seau's gone next year, and Crowder will one day replace ZT.

1. QB - We need to make a run at either Rivers / Brees. We need a legit QB for the future, not another vet journeyman....

2. OL - The C / OT positions are weak. I'd like to do a complete overhaul on the OL, but that's just not a realistic approach. Saban / Mueller should add a couple of solid FA veterans this off-season....

3. WR - Chambers is quickly becoming an afterthought in this offense, and on this team in general. He's also getting exposed for what he is in the process{an average WR}. We can do better at WR than Chambers / Booker. Considering that #3 WR W. Welker has been more of a contributor than our #1 and #2, only shows how average they are IMO....

4. DB - Although I'm interested in seeing how Poole / Daniels play together, we need better players in the secondary. The S positions more so than anywhere else....

PHINZ RULE!!!!
