31. Miami Dolphins (1-15) – I’d rather have Bill Parcells coaching my team than sitting in the front office and tinkering with the roster. Too bad he has the No. 1 pick in a flat draft. Don’t count out Vernon Gholston in that spot.

I don;t like where he has us, nor do I like what he had to say, except for that last sentence. I really want Gholston....He's the next Shawn Merriman, you can't go bad with that pick.

You can't go wrong with someone mentioned in the Mitchell report and takes every other play off and isn't the best player at the position?

What? He was mentioned in the Mitchell report??

that was my reaction too. A college football player mentioned in a report on the use of steroids in baseball??

I just did a word search in the Mitchell Report and Gholston doesn't appear anywhere in it (nor does 'Vernon' nor 'Ohio State')

that must have been a poor attempt at humor. :err:

Thats what like2god mentioned in a thread one day. He also said that it was a absorb allegation though. It still bothers me that he was even mentioned though.

Is like2god still around? Maybe he could clarify. I know something was mentioned regarding him and roids but their was no such evidence.

maybe just a misunderstanding then.

Unless I have some unofficial copy of the document (i don't think that's the case) I can assure you that his name doesn't appear in the report.

I just searched engined steroid allegations on Vernon Gholston and their were many links provided with information. The columbus dispatch has some info on it. Their was never any proof of his involvement though.

oh....I'm sure there were. just look at the guy. that frame is definately going to start speculation. IMO, he probably has used something...and not just for a week or two. but that really doesn't effect whether I want to draft him or not. I guess I'm a cynic....but I feel that more people in pro sports are using performance enhancers than not.

Sadly, I agree. In this case I just think Gholston is guilty. I mean everyone I know who is a workout warrior and hits the weights as hard as he supposedly does, does so to help their performance on the feild. That is where Gholston taking plays off leads me to beleive that their is something to it. Thats just my opinion though.

How is this a flat draft?

no WOW player right at the top....similar to '05

there is not player at any postion where they are saying 'He's the best <insert position> prospect in years. (like Calvin Johnson last year).

Best O-Lineman? Last year's best was a better prospect
Best WR - no one's even sure who that is
Best QB prospect? - no Jamarcus Russell
best RB? - not Adrian Peterson
Best d-Lineman - no one really agrees who that is (Long? dorsey? Gholston? Ellis?)

There are certainly strengths in this draft as far as depth....but there aren't really names that pop.
