Hey i was reading through the latest sporting news magazine and on the offseason report card they have the dolphins 1st and an A and the Patriots last with an F, i thought that was i kinda intersting. And the bills and jets both have a B- , i was just suprised b,c this is the 1st thing ive seen where the dolphins are 1st and the patriots last

their FA period sucked, but they had a good draft

Basically they lost:
David Givens
Adam Vinatieri
Willie Mcginest
Tim dwight
Andre davis
Ashworth

And they gained
Reche caldwell
Martin gramtica
Eric Warfield

See why they got a bad grade...

well the dolphins should be first not only in the east but in the whole league, nick saban definately has shown that he will improve the team at whatever cost necessary. in nick i trust, until proven wrong. this is my first reply i just joined today i guess you can say i am a rookie. i am a big dolphins fan.

It doesn't matter how many posts you have it's how well you can defend your point....

Welcome to the board...

I'm confused on this one, I know the Bills did nothing in the FA period so their grade must be soley on their draft, if thats the case then I I think the grade is right, however if thats the case then how can they give the Pats an F when they themselves had a good draft?? How can you give the fins a A when our draft was good but not any better then the Jets or Bills or Pats?? If they are including the FA period in the grading then you can't give an overall good grade to the Bills. So something isn't making sesnse here.

Yeah the Pats had a rough off season.

Trust me when I say that Chad Jackson and Reche Caldwell are no replacement for David Givens, at least not yet. Depending on how much responsibility they give him, I doubt he's in for a very effective season. Not yet, anyway.

As a rookie, I think Chad Jackson can safely replace Tim Dwight. But, Troy Brown gets yet another year older (and remember Tony Martin? yeah, old receivers can basically fall off a cliff very suddenly sometimes), and Reche Caldwell as a replacement for David Givens is just mean spirited.

Laurence Maroney added to the runners group should help a lot.

Willie McGinest, they basically had already lost him...he wasn't the same in 2005 as he was in 2004. But it should be noted that the Pats didn't achieve in 2005 what they did in 2004, either.

Rodney Harrison may NEVER come back...and almost certainly will never be the same.

They have troublesome depth at LB & DL, forcing them to possibly shift to the 4-3...but honestly they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. They should switch to the 4-3 just because Jarvis Green is a better DE than Monty Beisel is an OLB...but outside of that they don't have any quality depth sitting behind their 4 man DL, or their 4 man LB unit.

What you're saying is their basically a couple injuries D wise from last year.

I do expect Chad to struggle some his first year, but Brady delivers a nice ball which makes it a little easier to catch when he does get open..but fighting though DB's and knowing the system and hitting the wall by the end of the season are going to be questions for him.

I think it's a no brainer that we by far did more than any other team in the AFC East to upgrade and improve our team on the field as well as off the field coaching related.

Even though it's all subjective (because everyone still has to perform), I'd say we did do the most off-season to put ourselves in a position to improve. A little bit of risk involved in some of the picks, F/A, etc. but if most work out, we'll be pretty tough for many years to come. Pats always get murdered in the off-season, but they always seem to contend regardless. So yeah, I agree they were hit even harder this year than in the past, but we'll see how much it affects them. Jets had a pretty good draft, but won't see the benefits for couple of years. While I think the offseason for the Bills was as bad, if not worse than the Pats. Unless something shocking happens with players up there, I see them easily all alone at the bottom of the AFC East.

The thing about Chad Jackson is that he has good hands and speed but his YAC is horible. Once he makes a grab, he's lucky not to go down right away.

yeah the Pats sucked, Dolphins and Jets had good offseasons but the Bills were average

yeah but the pats should be like a C- not an F, they didnt have that terrible of an offseason.
