As per Jackson in today's Herald, Tannebaum indicated that guard an RB do not need much attention in FA. Tannebaum said that Miller played very well and that "There are a couple of young guards on the team that a lot of people in the building feel good about: Dallas Thomas, Billy Turner...Shelly Smith...There's a lot of good, young offensive linemen."

Hope that everyone can understand this thread better than the one I put up a few days ago. :)

God I hope not. The guard play was terrible - Thomas should of been cut. If not free agency the guard position needs to be addressed in the draft.

I want Williams to be on the field more as the #2 RB. KI'd has great hands and good vision. He certainly looked better than Thomas.

For guard I am guessing they visualize a starting rotation of Smith and Turner. I am ok with that.

If a renewed focus on Dallas Thomas at guard happens . . I could buy another shot.

Shoot me if they still are interested in keeping him in the tackle conversation.

Must be seeing something in Dallas Thomas I didn't see?

A few of us saw improvement in Dallas at OG but, then we moved him to RT, and it was a DISASTER. I'm hoping that we just keep him at OG, and that he may surprise. The same was somewhat true with Smith, and the failed move to center.

That's why I like the Fox signing. It insures that Thomas won't sniff tackle again. He could be an ok guard, clearly tackle isn't for him though.

Literally the first time we saw him on the field, first snap, at tackle, in the preseason . . he got owned. He didn't even touch the guy. At that moment I knew he was in over his head at tackle. He has not disappointed in that theory.

Phibin said he made a mistake in moving Dallas all over as a rookie, and then did the same damn thing his second year. LOL I give Dallas a fair shot at being at least average if we leave him alone at OG.

Dallas Thomas improved from unplayable to horrible from year one to year two. Maybe from year two to year three he makes the jump to serviceable at guard.

Maybe even up to around average, which I would be happy with. IF all goes well, he could be playing in between Albert and Pouncey, making life much easier.

You were calling this all out 3 days ago. And it made sense. If we are going all in on Suh we have to be frugal elsewhere. They have 3 young guards that all could take one more step and become decent football players. They are all cheap. They may draft another guard to throw into the mix or sign a vet on the cheap (maybe bring Satele back), but it sure seems like they don't plan on spending much cash at the guard position this off-season.

He really shouldn't have led with dallas Thomas in his explanation of good young guards.
