Ogun is garbage wit out Jason

As me and Birdamn were saying the other day, THE only reason Ogun got 15 sacks last year was because JT was getting double teamed the whole game, Ogun had single coverage on him all year...

If that was the case, then why didn't Jason Taylor make Kenny Mixon better?

Why is it that Jason Taylor has yet to have a double digit sack season without a guy on the other side that gets double digit sacks?

ogun had 9.5

That's BS after the first 7 games or so Ogun was seeing double coverage just as much as JT was... you think it's just a coincidence that JT was pretty ineffective until late in the season?? JT was only able to get into the double digits in sacks because they started rolling coverage away from him.

They fed off of EACH OTHER. Ogun will not be as good without JT on the other side, and JT will not be as good unless Williams/Bowens can equal Ogun's production.

Duh.

Name me one DE that could do it all by himself in the NFL these days. If J.T. gets 12+ sacks this season I'll be amazed because so far we've seen nothing out of the opposite DE spot and J.T's going to get all the offenses cover. Ogun is good but he's not a premier DE or anywhere near a $15 million signing bonus. Chicago's going to find that out the hard way even with them lining up Ogun over the RT's.

Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

At the end of the day JT has done it season after season and Ogun is a new kid on the block. JT is quality and Ogun may be but time will tell. He certainly can do it but whether its with the bears then we will see. Does he have quality around him apart from Urlacher?

3 tackles so far today but NO sacks what a surprise.

this season both ogun and taylor will not have great seasons...no matter what each say about one another they were a perfect compliment...too bad for both (and us fans) it ended the way it did.

and lets not forget jt had a poor year...the calendar year...was it 99?

What was Mixon's sack total while playing for Miami and what has he done since he left?

Double coverage and plenty of holding are two main reasons. When JT does have an above average DE opposite him he benefeits as well BUT, teams gameplan for JT and that gameplanning opens up the other DE to make more plays. Wale' was good but he was not great yet he demanded to be paid in the neighborhood of the likes of Kearsey and Freeney. The bottom line is that he is simply not THAT good.

It's amazing that more people don't see this. You are exactly right.

Give me a break. JT's best seasons were BEFORE Ogunleye ever got to Miami. Explain that.

(Note that I'm playing devil's advocate here. This is not my own view.)

The best explanation is that JT is past his prime and got carried by OGun.

Michael Strahan got 18.5 last year, while Kenny Holmes only chipped in 5.5. When Strahan got 22.5, Holmes gave him 3.5 and Keith Hamilton gave him 6.5 at RDT.

But Strahan is the only guy I feel can get his sacks without a lot of help. Strahan's the only guy better than JT IMO.

JT's best season was easily 2002, Wale's first season opposite him. IMO it was a combination of JT taking his game to another level and Wale starting to realize his potential.

FYI - Wale came to Miami in 2000 (on IR). :)

I hardly think that JT is past his prime considering he posted 18.5 sacks in 2002 vs Wale's 9.5. In 2003, Ogunleye posted 15 sacks while JT accomplished a paultry 13.
