I been always in training camp for the last couple of years since I was a small child. While I will not display the source I will let you know about the events of yesterday in the draft. Dirtycashholding was actually right about our pick in the first place, because we drafted Ted Guinn Jr and it was going to upset us.

The dolphins in draft day had Ted Guinn Jr. high on the board all along and we were slated not to draft Brady Quinn. This decision was based on Cameron wanting an ideal quarterback that worked well under pressure and did not made mistakes in the trenches. The number 9 pick game and the dolphins picked Ted Guinn Jr. as our wide receiver because we thought he was the best player available and our coach was dissapointed in the performance of our wide receivers in a way but the main factor that we ask ourselves, why didn't he pick Quinn?

The dolphins tried to trade back with a few teams but decided not to. They were also not too high on Quinn because of his questionable decision making capabilities. They didn't think he was a quick thinker under traffic which is what Cam Cameron wants in a Qb. However they had Beck and Quinn Rated as high but what Kills Beck is his age. However the dolphins were impressed with how Beck made decisions under pressure and his athletic ability. While not playing in a division such as Notre Dame, Beck is a very smart guy with a nice arm and is able to operate well under pressure.

What surprised me the most is that many teams had Beck rated low only because of his age. However look at guys like Tony Romo starting in their career after a few years in the bench. Beck would have been rated higher if he was younger but there you go.

Also we picked Lorenzo Booker because of his cutback speed and his ability to make defenders miss. This might be a sign for things to come.

Our draft was not a bad one at all. It was more of a team need than anything guys. You can't have an explosive offense with the current players with have. This leads us to believe that we are gonna be getting rid of some players in the next off-season.

The points mentioned above are well taken. But, Quinn is the more athletically gifted qb IMHO and yeah he did have some bad showings in big games. That Sugar Bowl peformance certainly did not help his cause with the FO. Must have been afraid he turn into another Carr / Harrington (overhyped QB who does not translate into the next level). Although due to Carr's situation in Houston it may not have been all him.

Still with Quinn's yo yo performances in some big games was it his decision making or the fact that he had limited talent on an OVERHYPED ND team? I mean I would understand a team's hesitation picking them that high out of value and the risk / reward factor. Don't get me wrong. Eventhough there is concern about his pefromances in big games in his last two years at College I still think he has a good shot to be productive in this league. But, team's are extremely cautious when picking QBs that high in the draft for obvious reasons.

As a fan I was surprised like many of you all that we did not take Quinn because I thought Cam was high on him. All the interest in him must have been a smoke screen to cover their intentios for the real targer - Beck. Clever smokescreen that fooled a many.

After careful thought we must look at the risk / reward factor and how any FO would look at it. Emotionally it is tough to take when as a fan you recognize that QB is such a critical need for a team and a good prospect is there at #9 in the 1st round and your teams does not take him for a WR coming off an injury. But, from a practical and not emotional take on it let's not assume Quinn is the savior and the only option to lead us to the promise land. Obviously Cam / Mule did not.
