I do not play or coach for the Dolphins, so I can look ahead. That said, how do we stack up with the Chiefs? Other than JC, I think very well. We would be playing them at their house, but I really believe if we are able to stop the run (TALL order) we have a legit shot at taking them down and moving on. That would be the biggest key, IMO. Other than that, I think we match up well. This post is pretty generic, and I could go into a lot of specifics, but mostly I just wanted to see what everyone else might think IF we were to make it to the playoffs... Just an open discussion.

The only scenario in which the Dolphins could play the Chiefs is if both teams make it to the AFC Championship game. The Chiefs as the 5 seed will play the 4 seed and if they win will then play the 2 seed (New England). Miami, if they get in will play the 3 seed and if they won that game would play the 1 seed (Denver).

We wont be playing the Chiefs...they are the 5 seed...We would be the 6 and play the 3 (Cincy or Indy)
KC will be going to the 4 seed (Cincy or Indy)

****. My bad, I had it in my head that we would be playing the ****ing Chiefs. LMAO. I wasn't thinking. Damn.

I don't think we stack up well with the Chiefs at all. Jamaal Charles will eat our LBs for breakfast and Alex Smith isn't going to pull an Andy Dalton and give Brent Grimes a couple of freebies. They have a very strong DL and big physical corners who will shut down our smurf receivers. I don't see us putting up points on that team and likewise I don't see us being able to stop Charles.

I actually think we match up better with Denver, even though Denver is a better team. It's the same premise for why we match up better vs New England than Buffalo. We have two extremely glaring weaknesses on our football team that Buffalo and KC are built to exploit while Denver and New England are not built that way.

The Cheifs are the 5th seed, Miami the 6th, so if we get in, we will never see the Chiefs unless/until both Miami and KC steamroll all the team in front of them, and both reach the AFC Championship games. If Miami reaches the playoffs as the 6th seed, Miami will be playing the 3rd seed (either the Colts or the Pats....I believe, because the Bengals can't reach the #3 spot ).

The thing with Miami is when the team is on the Dolphins can compete with anyone. Look at the teams Miami has defeated -- Indianapolis, San Diego, Pittsburgh, New England, Cincinnati. Those are all teams vying for the playoffs or in the postseason. Not saying Miami wins the super bowl if they make the playoffs, only that when they play their A game they can compete with any team.

We would get crushed by the Chiefs...it's another strength on weakness...their strength against our weakness. They run the ball extremely well, very good at screens (two things we struggle against) and they get after the QB. Very good front 7 and we can't block, pass or run.

Great topic. It's never too early to get ahead of ourselves.
