"OLB or ILB for Miami at No. 12?

This will be one of the more important offseasons in recent memory for the Miami Dolphins. Chad Henne showed some nice development, but he needs more weapons. The defense also showed some promise at times, but they need new bodies in key places.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald takes a look at one debate: will the team draft an ILB or an OLB at No. 12 overall? Mel Kiper Jr. forecasts the Dolphins taking ILB Rolando McClain in that spot (click here for more on McClain), but other draft pundits have them picking OLB Sergio Kindle ... because McClain is already off the board.

Salguero thinks it will be an interesting conundrum if both Kindle and McClain are still on the board, and we'll add that it'll be interesting if they've both already been taken (do they go with WR Dez Bryant in that situation?). The draft is still three months away, but keep an eye on what the Fins do in free agency for clues as to what they'll do that fateful Thursday night in April."

I feel like both Dez and McClain are elite prospects and I'd be thrilled with either, but Kindle just doesn't make me think "elite", maybe he'll change my mind in the coming months.

kindle in the first is a joke! there is no way that we take kindle in the first. Give me graham before kindle much more upside to him was absolutly great on a horrilble mighigan defense. If we take i=kindle over graham it will be a major bust!!

if we cant get R. McClain or Dez Bryant i want to trade down and do what the browns did last year

Exactly. I've been saying for months that Kindle doesn't know how to penetrate. He runs around and makes plays in pursuit - obviously a good thing - but he doesn't have the necessary tools to be an elite SSOLB (or WSOLB). To me, he's more of an over sized 4-3 OLB. 12, though, is too high for Graham. I had him as our 1st RD pick when I thought we'd be drafting around 20, but I think there's some chance he's still available when we draft in the 2nd. With the Mike Nolan hire, I'd prefer to draft E. Thomas (again, reminds me of Ed Reed) and hope that one of the following is available in RD 2: B. Graham, S. Witherspoon, B. Spikes. If none of these players are available, maybe we look at A. Benn or T. Cody (pretty sure he'll still be on the board) in the 2nd. Really, there's a pretty decent chance Kindle will be there when we draft in RD 2, but I wouldn't take him until RD 3 (and he won't be there at that point).

if i had to choose between sergio kindle and brandon graham it wouldn't even take me a second...

graham...assuming he looks ok in lb drills

If we can't get Dez or McClain, and we can't trade down, I'd take a good long look at Earl Thomas. I like what I've seen out of him and it would give Nolan a nice Ed Reed type of apprentice in the secondary.

Why Sergio Kindle? I have Jerry Hughes rated WAY higher than Kindle... or is it just me?

There is something going on with Kindle that has people going in completely different directions. I've seen anywhere from the top 15 to the bottom of the 3rd, either way, I have been none too impressed.

No way we take Kindle....McClain yes, Dez Bryant yes, CJ Spiller maybe yes....Kindle is a late first rounder. If our top three targets are all gone when we come to the podium then I think we trade down for an extra pick.

I think we have to look McClain, Dez, Spiller, Thomas, Spoon, Hughes, Graham (if he is shooting up boards) in that order.

I think McClain would be the perfct fit,and I bet sprano, tuna, and Irland are all lickn there chops for him also nolan.....

It's all gonna depend on what we do in FA. If we sign someone like Dansby then i think we trade back and take an OLB and pick up a 2nd in the process. If we sign an OLB then i think that we will be hoping to take McClain at #12

i said in a previous thread i started that we will draft a linebacker. but now that i look at the linebackers, other than mclain, i dont see anyone worth taking at the #12 overall spot. kindle might be good, but he seems like a project. so we could go elsewhere. i doubt we take dez bryant, but c.j. spiller is a strong possibility. the other guy i like is earl thomas. another thing to consider, i wouldnt be suprised if we traded up for mclain. i bet the browns would give us the #7 pick for our early 6th round pick. that could be a possibility to get mclain, and i want mclain bad. we need a playmaker and captain of the future for that defense and mclain is that guy like no one else in this draft.

I didnt watch much kindle or much college ball this year, but when I did, I watched Kindle. He was around the ball alot. Thats all I know.

I dont get why this board is so against Kindle but it seems to be spreading. Thats what makes me think its not true.

Finheaven plays favorites.

Jerry Hughes seems to be a target regardless but the piling on on here reminds me of the piling on for ted ginn.
