With the emergance of Quinten Moses and the steady improvement of Charlie Anderson along with the Pass Rush ability of Cam Wake... it would seem Miami is in a good situation in terms of young talent on the roster... If the Matt Roth injury Saga somehow manages to rectify itself... it poses a delimma going forward... With Porter in is 3rd year of a 4 year contract and Taylor on 1 year deal... what does Miami do going into 2010... Eric Walden IMO won't make the team, because he doesn't contribute much in the base defense even as a backup... whereas Moses can give you something in the base as well as play on ST... Wake and Anderson have also been making contributions on ST and are going to be on the roster... my guess is there is a big chance this is Porters' last season in Miami; with a hefty salary for 2010 i doubt the F/O will want to keep that on the books... if and i mean if, Wake shows any improvement in his overall play as his conversion to OLB continues... it will make letting Porter go that much easier!!! if Matt Roth is kept, he will be starting at his old position on the Strong Side, stuffing the run as usual.. BUT, if he doesn't make it, or is put on IR, i'm also guessing he won't be retained moving forward!!! so what does Miami do? What do you guys think?

I would count on miami drafting two linebackers and 1 de and 2 dt's in the next draft. but i could be wrong.

I'm figuring the Matt Roth situation is going to end ugly!!! opening up a strong possibility of another OLB in 2010 draft..

It is very likely that Porter and Jason Taylor will be gone after this season... Then, you are looking at Cam Wake, Quentin Moses and Charlie Anderson as the outside linebackers returning. Cam Wake would be the WOLB and Moses the SOLB with Charlie the backup WOLB. Sounds as though we will need Matt Roth for next season as well.

Barring injury or a severe decline this season I see Porter finishing out his contract here.

I bet we go OLB heavy in the draft or FA. I do think we resign Porter if he has another monster yr, but it will be cap friendly, Porter may not resign and hit the open market to get that one last big contract and JT will be signed for another yr if he shows he has something left in the tank. Who knows.....Wake maybe the OLB monster we are looking for, we will know this after this yr. I am not feeling Roth right now. If he is injuried then the groin is a big problem and I wouldnt sign him to a long contract, if he is holding out for a bigger deal then he will be getting that somewhere else.......I get the feeling he will be put on the IR and be lost for season, we pay him his 500,000 and he hits the FA market next yr.

I can see us signing JT to another 1 year deal if he stays health. I don't see us trading JP unless we get an amazing deal for him. I think it would have to be close to what we got for JT if not better. I could see the front office signing JP to the same type of contract extension we gave to Will Allen which is pretty cap friendly at the back end, and gives all of the guaranteed $ the first couple of years.

If Roth can get healthy and prove his worth I think we will try to resign him. The problem with him is he has Rosenhause for an agent who can normally get top dollar for his clients. Good for Roth bad for Fins.

Barring any traumatic injury I think Wake, Moses and Anderson will be back next year. I think how they perform this year will have a huge impact on how we draft next year. If they play well and improve I think we may only draft 1 OLB and 1 ILB next year, but if they stink up the joint and show no progression (and if we lose Roth via FA) I would bet our front office doesn't hesitate to draft maybe 2 to 3 OLB/ILB's prospects depending on how the draft plays out.

The "emergence" of Moses was in one PS game against second and third stringers, although he did show something. Anderson was an average pass play replacement for Roth. Wake has shown little ability, so far, to play LB.

We do need Roth, and we will pick two LB's early next draft.

I agree on all counts. IMO, Tuna went after Pace last year to replace Porter.

Pace and Porter don't play the same position. IMO we went after Pace because we had no idea how Roth would adapt to SOLB.

I believe that Pace would have been a better fit for us on the weak side. JMO.

I really do believe that teams will be very wary of trading for old pass rushers after seeing what happened with JT in Washington. Joey Porter and Jason Taylor, IMO, will not be traded due to a trade partner being non-existent.

Ronnie Brown, Vernon Carey and maybe Will Allen can be traded for first day pick.

They see that, and the also recall some who helped win a SB. Owners are funny fellows. :)

Carey is going nowhere. Not sure on the other two.

Draft next year:
Porter - 1 year left, JT - age.
We will be looking for a rush type linebacker in the draft, but it will be difficult from the 32nd postion to find that A1 guy.

I'm going on record saying that barring any horrible injuries (career ending) this year, Miami will go WR or DT with the first round pick next year. Maybe Terrance Cody from Alabama. That guy is a stud, but really fat and I would love to see him after Sparano's conditioning program.
