Keith Olbermann will return to sports for the first time in six years to join Cris Collinsworth as co-host of the pregame show for NBC's Sunday night NFL telecasts.
Olbermann, who currently hosts a prime-time newscast and opinion show called Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, will join with host Bob Costas and analysts Jerome Bettis, Tiki Barber and Peter King on NBC's "Football Night in America."

they must be trying to get something out of him for what they are paying him, his news and opinion show gets very low ratings.

Of course he has low ratings, he's on MSNBC. MSNBC is like what the 4th news station behind CNN, FOX News, and if it counts as a news station CNN Headline News (in no particular order, do I have these stations ranked, just that MSNBC is the lowest). Really MSNBC is where news anchors go to die ala the John Tucker guy.

Anyway this is not an anti-MSNBC post or a post for Olbermann so I'll get down to my point. I wonder why Olbermann was picked to join the pre-game show does he have any sports background? I mean if they are going to go out and get a political analyst who has a sports background they could have gotten Rush Limbaugh (but I shudder at the thought).

lol.

As for the 2nd part of your post he got his start on Sportscenter and working for Fox I believe doing sports. He also works for ESPN radio w/ Dan Patrick now.

Oh come on now I wasn't bashing MSNBC I was just telling the truth :D (actually I could care less about which news station is Number #1).

However I didn't know Olbermann worked in all of those areas covering sports, I guess he is qualified, it just seems like an off the wall choice but I guess if his show is doing bad that could be a good reason.

I think he's over the top politically, but when he was at sportscenter, his segment was pretty good. They were funnier and better back then imo.

There are good reasons he was dropped from ESPN and Fox

Olbermann isn't as funny as he thinks he is. I only hope they give him the ole Rush treatment when he opens his mouth and inserts foot on a national broadcast....and he will.....
