If he makes that 31 yard field goal  we win the game. Granted, missing the field goal forced the Patriots to go for the 2-point conversion twice, they made 1 of them, which would be the same as taking the extra point both times negating that. We would have taken the extra point instead of going for 2 and Ronnie Brown coming up just short,so that puts us at a 1 point advantage in our score. That puts us within 3 points...a field goal to tie at the end of the game instead of needing a TD. He is getting off of the hook too easily. He makes $2 million+ each year but fails to make routine and clutch kicks on a regular basis. I hope we get a cheaper kicker this offseason. I mean look at what he did to us last season against the Patriots at home. He single handedly lost the game for us...period. Well, he did it again. Chris Chambers was equally disappointing, maybe more, but Mare hurt us at least close to as much as CC did.

He's an above average NFL kicker, especially because of his kickoffs, he is one of the best in the business at that. He does not need to be making 2 mill. however.

Olindo Mare
Chris Chambers
Randy McMichael
Reggie Howard
Channing Crowder
Scott Linehan
Nick Saban

there are a lot fo people who could be blamed.

lmao now finheaver's are down to blaming the kicker............  :shakeno:

"And if the dog hadn't stopped to take a leak, he'd have caught the rabbit too!!".....

That missed FG was meaningless. Well maybe not completely meaningless, but the fact that the Patriots scored that game winning TD "in two whole plays scrimmage", made all the difference they needed. Our offense should have never been forced to tie the game to begin with IMO....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Maybe I'm wrong but it seemed to me he was having a pretty good season up to now. He missed one field goal - man you guys are harsh

Jesus Christ, the man missed a fieldgoal, it happens, get over it. He has proven time and time again that he is one of the best kickers in the league. He is four for five one week, one for one the next and zero for one the next. It have not read the stat pages recently but I would not be suprised if he was in the top five in touchbacks. It is so easy to play the blame game; how about the Patriots played one hell of a game and won. See, isnt that a whole lot easier

Nah. Mare is still pretty good.

The reason Miami lost this game was not because of a few missed plays. Gus did play well, especially in the first half. The reason Miami lost was because they abandoned the run in the second half. They changed the gameplan at the half for no reason. It forced Miami into a shootout with Tom Brady. Good idea? Hell no.

Exactly. And you would think that after Atlanta Linehan wouldve figured that out

Team effort to lose that game guys. We win as a team, we lose as a team.

We keep saying this. He missed a 31 yard field goal. Would AV from New England have missed that kick? No. That kick changed the complexion of the game. Two years in a row he choked at home against the Patriots! He misses WAY too high of a % of game deciding/clutch kicks to justify his salary. Look at my analysis in my original post and tell me where I am wrong! Why miss a 31 yard kick at home in a game that probably determined who the AFC East division champs would/wouldn't be? He choked that's why! He makes that kick we can go into control the clock mode.

Well, I don't know about this. Some players played well, and others not so well. But even so, that did not decide the game. There are some serious concerns with Miami's coaching staff right now. It is Saban's first year, so he is still building his staff. Linehan may not be back next year, and he may not be the only one to go.

I know where u r coming from but i feel having watched the game there was too many mistakes to blame any particular player. I agree some players played well but otheres didnt step up so i wud say they played as a team and lost as a team. Saban gets my vote and im confident for next season. Too many fans reaching for a particular player at the moment and i think we are rebuilding so calm might be agood thing at the moment.
