Vernon Carey in recent interview was asked about his move to RG and responded, “I love this offensive line with Jake Long, Richie Incognito, Mike Pouncey who’s a young and energetic guy and Marc Colombo coming in".

With the response it looks like this is the way we are heading. I understand the limitations Incognito & Columbo have in pass protection, but that is one massive, nasty, run blocking line.

When Garner gets back into it fully, I suspect he will unseat either Incognito at LG or Columbo at RT... has the size and quickness to play either and has had experience at both.

I think we may finally have a line with the mentality it needs to become dominant.

I'm a big believer in the idea that a line needs to develop a dominant identity as a group, which is comprised of the nastiness and dominant mentalities of the individual linemen, coming together to fuel the unit as a whole.

Each guy feeds off of the other guys' mentalities, which is what it sounds like Carey is alluding to here.

The depth is not half bad...

Garner, Berger and Jerry are pretty solid off of the bench. Cannot have enough linemen.

wow thats like 6 comments in a row without any negativity. hahahhaa. i like our new team. think were headed for big things this year

OMG, I am seeing eye to eye with hayden fox. ive been noticing this lately. wow.

I was just thinking this as well. Jerry seems to be big ? Very dissapointing so far. I believed in this draft pick. now, not so much. I think this weird offseason led him to the chicken wing bar instead of the workout room.

One of our biggest probs was injuries to OL. When Garner went down, things got rough. Berger is a good center but a better backup center coming in with fresh legs. Pouncey is more powerful. Center position locked. The weak spot is Incog IMO. Praying Jerry picks it up there eventually and Murtha continues some recent pancake sightings. albeit a few.

I think last season's injuries will benefit the competition and depth along the O'line. Players like Berger, Jerry, McQuistan & Murtha who last year were starting games will be solid backup's together with the return of Garner.

Add Ray Willis now too.

Tony has to stick to a line NOW and go with it. No tinkering. Trust your gut, Tony, and go with it.

The only think I got a problem with is colombo but I can live without. We need to just make one more move and trade for a right tackle. Imo there is novmore tackles I like in fa

Well Colombo might have a short leash in the preseason especially with how the CS likes to flip the line.

Look for Garner when he is back to get a shot a G or T and defiantly keep an eye out for Lydon Murtha who is apparently tossing people to the ground in practice and scrimmages, either one of those two could unseat Colombo come opening weekend, and it is something I see happening.

And I hope it happens sooner than later so the Murtha or Gardner get full time reps against Wake which is always a help.

well if we're gonna go with that lineup of names at least put them in position where they have the most chance to succeed...either move pouncey to left guard and incog to center or leave pouncey at center and make incog the right guard and carey the left guard...careys got tackle feet he should have the feet to play a solid move left guard...at least much better than incog who's feet are like in cement

as for colombo at rt pray for a change people...pray they see the light

agree totally
think carey is at left guard today in practice !

I really like how the OL is coming together! With Ray Willis pickup, I think Colombo ultimately gets cut. Our RT spot suddenly looks a lot better. And, if anything happens to Willis during the season, Carey can slide back over and Garner will take over RG.
