Oliver Vernon now has 10 sacks accumulated this season.

Of course hindsight's always 20/20, but as promising as Jordan appears to be, wish we would have stood pat with Vernon and grabbed Eifert w/o trading up...or took Austin@3

Wake isn't a young guy though. I didn't like trading up, but I do like that they were thinking value and long term instead of just immediate need.

Of course, that's assuming they didn't think Vernon was going to play well enough to be a starter, in which case I'm giving them way too much credit.

Trade Wake ?? SMH

OV has been balling, You have to step back and wonder if the Front office miscalculated his potential and if they did would they have drafted differently.
Definitely a steal where we grabbed him.

DJ himself is a talent... we need to figure which ( OV or DJ ) we can move to LBer.

I say both and Wake and move to 3-4, rotate Wake, DJ and Oliver at the 2 OLB position and at times have all 3 on the field in passing downs moving them all over the front.....we need a creative DC....imagine how Belicheat would use these guys...it would be fierce

This team isn't going to have Wake and Starks forever, and you can never have enough pass rush. I still question this move, but I think it had more to do with the age of the d-line besides Vernon than Vernon's ability, which flashed during his rookie year.

Vernon's versatility is a big plus for us. He shifts inside many times on 3rd down when Jordan comes on the field and he is just as effective..maybe even more effective rushing from the inside due to his strong hands. This defensive line has the potential to carry us down the stretch here into the playoffs if they play up to their ability.

You can't argue with his production this year. He's clearly turning into a good football player.

I loved him as a football player last season, especially after he ran down CJ Spiller from behind but was worried he would be a man without a position. Personally, I would have turned him into a LB but he's doing well at DE. CK speculated Vernon's career in Miami would be short lived after the Jordan pick and Misi extension, for me you can't have too many good DE's but it will be interesting to see how we get all of these guys on the field next season.

IIRC OV had shifted to DT as Jordan was lined up at DE for at least two of the sacks if not all three. What this means to me is that Starks is probably gone and the Fins will look to resign Soliai. If the DL unit can stay healthy they look like they could be a force for years to come

I went back and watched the highlights and two of the sacks came from the DT position. The third was from DE. With his quickness and explosion those inside offensive lineman didn't have a chance.

i heard a lot of no pass rush upside stuff about vernon this last offseason...

I saw Jordan and OV causing a lot of chaos yesterday. i remember correctly, they were constantly applying pressure when both were in at the same time.

jordan ability to come wide off the edge and not let the qb flush out to that side let vernon come straight up the inside...i like that package they put together and i agree with others that unless solia prices himself out of miami it's starks that walks this offseason...can't keep em all makes the most sense to me cause miami also has to count on jordans pass rush developing with a year of the offseason program

I loved the pick when he was blocking FGs last year. I'd begin to transition Jordan into a hybrid OLB/ DE. You have top production coming from Wake and Vernon now.

Great picks all around. Jordan will come into his own next year.
