Oliver Vernon now has 10 sacks accumulated this season.

Our best personnel package is the speed package on defense.

Replace Soliai and Misi with OV and Jordan, slide OV in and have Jordan on the outside. Love that look on 3rd downs.

I honestly think this defensive line could carry us to the playoffs. We play a tough Steelers team but their line is depleted. Wake, Vernon, Jordan and company could completely dominate that game. Then we have Buff, NE, and the jets. Brady has to be pressured to be beat...weve seen how they affected the game against the Jets...and they have to be disruptive to a rookie QB for the Bills.

Win 3/4 and I think we sneak in the playoffs. Then anything can happen fellas.

OV was sensational yesterday. He, Jordan and Misi covered up the deficiencies of the two other LBs, while Vernon still managed to terrorise the Jets Oline. He's tied 6th for sacks, but is asked to do a lot more than say Mario Williams (or Cam Wake for that matter)

Vernon has an excellent motor. That's the type of 3rd round oick we should be making more of.

Can we make sure to never ever let Kacy Rodgers leave? That unit is the strength of this team, and has been for years. He's developed all of these absolute monster D-Linemen - Soliai, Odrick, Vernon, Wake to some extent, and now he has his hands on Jordan.

But wait according to most of finheaven Ireland can't draft worth a crap... Nevermind that we actually have more starters out of our last 4 drafts than 90% of the teams in the NFL....

Vernon's hustle is amazing. I can't count how many times this year hes been around the ball running someone down. Jersey worthy? Possibly.

Man i took so much grief for believing in this kid. I was such a homer they said... vernons ceiling was his rookie year they said.

good job OV

He's developed more variety in his game than I expected. Lots of nice subtle moves, some of which don't become evident until you watch the play a second or third time.

Vernon was very highly ranked early in his career as a Cane. He was the whispered next superstar. Warren Sapp went out of his way to stand next to Vernon at a spring game and give him tips.

I thought Vernon would bloom the following season but it never fully panned out. He got into hand fights with the left tackle and his game stagnated. Only when he flashed on special teams last season was there signs of a breakthrough. He was doing things he's never displayed previously.

Maybe Vernon can teach Jordan to be more feisty and competitive out there. Jordan's best plays yesterday were when nobody blocked him at all. Admittedly, I haven't watched the 4th quarter yet. I was traveling during the game and watched most of the tape today.

I thought Vernon would never develop into anything more than a situational player and had been skeptical to say the least. I was worried about his stoutness against the run and never thought he'd be able to beat OT's with consistency. He's truly developed his game up to this point in the season. Vernon has a tremendous amount of fire, grit and determination which is, at times, severely under estimated. He's been fantastic in pursuit of the QB and in chasing down running plays. His motor runs at more than 100% and leaves nothing on the field. Vernon as of now, has completely sold me, by his sheer hustle and full throttle demeanor. He is the Hybrid player this defense is predicated on having. I'm a huge fan and love watching him play down in and down out. Vernon is the quintessential under developed college athlete who's taken to the pro coaching available to him and has transformed his game. Keep up the great work OV!!!

IIRC OV had shifted to DT as Jordan was lined up at DE for at least two of the sacks if not all three. What this means to me is that Starks is probably gone and the Fins will look to resign Soliai. If the DL unit can stay healthy they look like they could be a force for years to come

I went back and watched the highlights and two of the sacks came from the DT position. The third was from DE. With his quickness and explosion those inside offensive lineman didn't have a chance.

This is what happens when you draft good players and good coaching KC Rodgers to go along with it. Keep pinching myself because of the fact we have the 9th youngest team in the league with an ever emerging QB.

Its good to see Vernon develope, I was excited that we drafted him last year. All the D-Linemen that the canes put into the draft that went and had productive careers and many were not available in the second and third round. I would of been very disappointed if Jordan a rookie beat out Vernon, The rotation of Vernon, Wake and Jordan is something that could carry us into the future.
